The "Great Outdoor Initiative" is a business arrangement between business and government, to open up money generating opportunities within all of our publicly owned lands and has nothing to do with getting more people to experience our beautiful wild and undeveloped public lands.

This golf course and clubhouse plan at Jonathan Dickinson State Park is a trojan horse tactic, to undermine what is left of our natural wildlife and undisturbed natural habitat and sensitive, endangered ecosystem.

And they want to destroy our Hobe Sound Tower!

The plans have been in place for a few years and they have more agendas coming.

They are violating Florida law 259.032 Conservation and recreation lands.—

(1) It is the policy of the state that the citizens of this state shall be assured public ownership of natural areas for purposes of maintaining this state’s unique natural resources; protecting air, land, and water quality; promoting water resource development to meet the needs of natural systems and citizens of this state; promoting restoration activities on public lands; and providing lands for natural resource-based recreation. In recognition of this policy, it is the intent of the Legislature to provide such public lands for the people residing in urban and metropolitan areas of the state, as well as those residing in less populated, rural areas. It is the further intent of the Legislature, with regard to the lands described in paragraph (2)(c), that a high priority be given to the acquisition, restoration, and management of such lands in or near counties exhibiting the greatest concentration of population and, with regard to the lands described in subsection (2), that a high priority be given to acquiring lands or rights or interests in lands that advance the goals and objectives of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s approved species or habitat recovery plans, or lands within any area designated as an area of critical state concern under s. 380.05 which, in the judgment of the advisory council established pursuant to s. 259.035, or its successor, cannot be adequately protected by application of land development regulations adopted pursuant to s. 380.05. Finally, it is the Legislature’s intent that lands acquired for conservation and recreation purposes be managed in such a way as to protect or restore their natural resource values, and provide the greatest benefit, including public access, to the citizens of this state."

This is a legal issue and must be dealt with in the courts with class action lawsuits as well as criminal, impeachable lawsuits, not just with petitions and public outcry.

But we must all make our voice heard loud and clear before they destroy every last piece of our Land, water, and wildlife.

In Martin County, we now have a 3-2 majority of pro environment, anti destruction/development commission, and before they can begin to reverse the insane overdevelopment that we are experiencing, those business people and politicians are going to speed up their end game plans.

It is labeled a “unit management plan amendment” and the DEP has scheduled a meeting Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 3 p.m. to present a “proposed amendment to the unit management plan” for the park.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at The Flagler of Stuart venue, 201 SW Flagler Avenue, Stuart, FL .

This is ground zero for real change, and if we ignore this, we will enable those in power to achieve their big picture plan. Let us not let this happen. Be the change you want to see."

The Everglades: River of Grass a book written by Majory Stoneman Douglas, activist and conservation advocate for all of Florida natural wildlife and environment, should be in every school and library everywhere, if we are going to teach the next generation about the crucial importance of wildlife and nature conservation.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead.

Get involved any way you can and together we can save what is left of our beautiful piece of paradise.
