Denigrating Iran is longstanding - taken to a higher level post-Vienna. It has nothing to do with its well-known peaceful nuclear program - with no military component or evidence it intends one.
It has everything to do with its sovereign independence, Washington wanting control of its government and hydrocarbon resources, as well as Israel wanting its main regional rival eliminated.
Expect relentless Iran bashing to continue until the nuclear deal is implemented or Congress rejects it (under heavy Israeli Lobby pressure) by a veto-proof margin.
The battle to undermine what was achieved is on. AIPAC plans a multi-million dollar Iran bashing campaign - intending to proliferate scare-mongering Big Lies to sway public opinion and enlist enough congressional support to undo years of hard work.

Think Tank Warns of NATO-Russia Clash

The London-based European Leadership Network (ELN) focuses on defense and security issues. Its new report is titled “Preparing for the Worst: Are Russian and NATO Military Exercises Making War in Europe more Likely?”
It warned about war games making a clash between the world’s dominant nuclear powers more likely. “Each exercise is seen as provocative by the other side and feeding a dynamic of distrust and unpredictability,” said ELN’s Ian Kearns. “Everyone is focusing on the deterrent value of big exercises, but there is a downside and that is the risk factor. Politicians have to show political judgment and restraint about when is the right time to scale down what could be a spiraling sequence of exercises.” More on ELN’s report below.

On Tuesday, media scoundrels featured the following headlines: New York Times: “Malaysian Airlines Crash Investigators to Examine Possible Missile Parts in Eastern Ukraine” - alleging surface-to-air Russian ones, highlighting Ukraine, Washington and other Western countries saying the aircraft “was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile fired from territory in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian separatists.”

Not enough says German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble. He demands more. The Financial Times said his ministry sent Eurozone counterparts a paper outlining his objections.
They’re scheduled to meet on Friday to decide whether to accept or reject already agreed on bailout terms. Germany’s finance ministry “denied that it was rejecting the deal and said it was only raising ‘some open questions that need to be addressed in the euro group,’ “ said the FT. They include “delays in planned reforms, debt sustainability and the role of the International Monetary Fund…” Schauble is especially concerned about an agreed on 50 billion euro privatization scheme to be administered by German bank KfW he runs - as well as Greece’s ability to service its impossible to repay 320 billion euro foreign debt.
John Kerry Lectures Cubans About Democracy

Kerry berated Cuban “policies of the past that have not led to a democratic transition” - code language for capitulating to US hegemonic rule unconditionally. He laughably claimed “the United State will remain a champion of democratic principles and reforms” - democracy solely for the privileged few, “reforms” meaning replacing social justice with neoliberal harshness.

ISIS Using Chemical Weapons Against Kurds

Washington and Turkey are allied against sovereign Syria and regional Kurds on the pretext of fighting ISIS.
They’re imported terrorists from scores of countries serving US imperial interests - using chemical weapons against Syrian civilians. Germany’s Defense Ministry says they’re used against Kurdish forces in northern Iraq - maybe supplied by Turkey or Washington.
A spokesman said “a chemical weapons attack” occurred southwest of Abril - delivered with mortar or artillery shells. ISIS and other imported terrorists used chlorine gas, sarin and other toxic agents in Syria and Iraq numerous times earlier. In late June, Syria’s Rajm al-Tfihi village in northeastern Al-Hasakah governorate was targeted. An undetermined poison gas was used. Victims experienced vomiting, breathing difficulties, eyes, nose and throat burning, severe headaches, muscle pain, as well as impaired concentration and mobility.
