Democracy American Style – Macedonia

May 18th, 2015

By Michael Collins
macedoniaflagMacedonia is about to experience Democracy American Style. The nation’s misfortune is simple. It occupies strategic territory of keen interest to the United States and Russia.

“Russia's Stroitransgaz said on Thursday it will build a gas pipeline across Macedonia, which could eventually be used as part of a route to supply Europe with Russian gas via Turkey”. Reuters, Mar 12

In January, Russia fired Ukraine as its natural gas transit for Europe. The pipeline across Ukraine was ideally positioned for this function. However, Ukraine’s practice of failing to pay for the natural gas it used and the outright hostility of the Kiev junta toward Russia were simply too much. Russia gave notice that the spigot would be turned off permanently in 2019. (Image: WikiCommons)

As an alternative to the Ukraine pipeline, Russia struck a deal with Turkey to sell it all the natural gas it wanted. In addition, Turkey agreed to put a gas portal at the Greek border for interested European nations.

The United States of Injustice

May 17th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

None whatever exists. Guilt by accusation suffices for anyone Washington wants convicted. Innocence is no defense. Juries are pressured to convict. Evidence when absent is invented. Lack of proof doesn't matter.

Thousands of political prisoners languish in America's gulag - at home and abroad. Thousands more are imprisoned for misdemeanors too minor to matter - ones for which just societies wouldn't tolerate incarceration.

Wrongful convictions are longstanding US practice - including numerous victims sentenced to capital punishment for crimes they didn't commit.

Aluminum Toxicity and Vaccines – Recent Basic Neuroscience Research

May 17th, 2015

By Gary G. Kohls, MD

(Connecting Vaccine Adjuvants and Mitochondrial Injury with Autism, Alzheimer’s Dementia, Autoimmune Disorders, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Gulf War Syndrome, ASIA Syndrome, Schizophrenia, Diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, etc)

“…our current results are consistent with the existing evidence on the toxicology and pharmacokinetics of Al adjuvants which altogether strongly implicate these compounds as contributors to the rising prevalence of neurobehavioral disorders in children. Given that autism has devastating consequences in a life of a child, and that currently in the developed world over 1% of children suffer from some form of ASD, it would seem wise to make efforts towards reducing infant exposure to aluminum from vaccines.“ — C A Shaw, MD

Kiev Recognizes Ultranationalist Nazi Era Collaborators as Freedom Fighters

May 17th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Kiev's regime is a US-installed, illegitimate, lawless, Nazi infested, fascist police state in Europe's heartland - waging naked aggression on its own people, risking regional peace and stability.

It tolerates no opposition. Democracy is strictly forbidden. Human and civil rights don't exist. Freedom is nonexistent. Nor are free and open media. Truth-telling on issues mattering most is considered terrorism.

Russians, Jews and others are vilified. Rule by intimidation is official policy. So is state terror - characterized by severe repression, violence and naked aggression against Donbass Ukrainians rejecting fascism, wanting to live free.

Democrats’ Cave-In on TPP and TTIP. Good-Bye Democracy.

May 17th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

On Wednesday afternoon, May 13th, a catastrophic failure became clear to the few honest Democrats who were determined to stop Obama’s disastrous ’trade deals’ which are actually going to transfer regulatory sovereignty away from elected government officials as at present (who are answerable to voters), and instead move these powers into the hands of international corporate cartels, which will have the final say over the safety of our air, water, automobiles, and other products, and of the environment, and of workers’ rights (and which regulations will become answerable instead to the controlling stockholders in those mega-corporations). Mega-corporations will set international standards, which none of the signatory nations within the TPP and TTIP will be legally able to exceed without paying heavy penalties to those corporations for violating those corporations’ ‘rights’ under these trade-deals. The current ability of individual nations to establish their own standards will disappear, except to the extent that international corporations allow.

Here’s How Your Senators Voted, in the Key Senate Vote to End American Democracy

May 17th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

The key vote, in the U.S. Senate, to transfer to international corporate panels America’s democratic national sovereignty over the laws and regulations on the environment, workers’ rights, consumers’ rights, and finance, was officially titled with the misleadingly unrelated phrase "Ensuring Tax Exempt Organizations the Right to Appeal Act,” and it passed the U.S. Senate as “H.R. 1314,” by 65 to 33 votes, at 1:55 in the afternoon of Thursday 14 May 2015.

That’s five votes more than the 60 votes that the measure needed in order to pass. This is the key congressional action among the many that are required in order for U.S. President Barack Obama’s international-‘trade’ treaties — TPP, TTIP, and TISA — to become law in the United States. It’s the ultimate decision-moment, concerning America’s future.

Ukraine's Poroshenko Wants Russians Interned in Prison Camps

May 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Ukraine is a US-installed Nazi-infested fascist police state - waging war on its own people.

Criticizing regime policy is strictly forbidden. Anyone opposing state policies is targeted for elimination - by imprisonment or cold-blooded murder.

Free and open media don't exist. Authorities want only their own views disseminated. Reporting hard truths on issues mattering most is criminalized.

Journalists are murdered for doing their job responsibly. Western governments support what demands condemnation. Western media ignore what demands headlines.

Kiev fascists operate extrajudicially. Poroshenko and supportive lunatics proposed "On legal regime of martial law" legislation.

Senate Defeats Anti-Consumer Trade Bill Fast Track Authority

May 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Score one for the good guys. A previous article explained so-called "trade promotion authority (TPA)" lets Obama and his trade representative, complicit with corporate predators, ram through Congress, with minimal debate, no amendments or public discussion outrageous legislation global justice advocates call NAFTA on steroids.

Proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) are stealth corporate coup d'etat measures - freedom and ecosystem-destroying nightmares.

Corporate giants wrote both measures - to establish unrestricted supranational global trade rules overriding national sovereignty, domestic laws and personal freedoms, serving their interests at the expense of humanity.

Why Hillary Clinton Would Be a Weak Presidential Nominee for Democrats

May 15th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

If Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic Presidential nomination, then how strong a candidate will she be against a Republican nominee who, as a representative of the conservative party, is proudly and openly supporting conservative positions?

Taegan Goddard of The Week headlines on May 11th, “Is Hillary Clinton Flip-Flopping or Just Evolving?” and he notes several issues on which she has rhetorically veered to the left recently. He further notes that one of the things that probably shaved a crucial few percentage-points off the losers in previous Presidential general-election contests and caused them to lose, such as John Kerry and Mitt Romney, was the given candidate’s primary-campaign rhetorical flip-flops that had been made during the Party’s primaries in order to be able to wrap up that candidate’s Party-base so as to win its Presidential nomination and so be able to become a participant in the general-election contest.

Political Prisoner Hassan Diab's Letters

May 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

In November 2008, Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested Diab for a crime he had nothing to do with - a 1980 Paris synagogue bombing.

Not a shred of evidence connects him to it. He's a former University of Ottawa and Carleton University sociology professor - terminated without just cause.

He's a Lebanese national with dual citizenship. He has no criminal record whatever or involvement with the group accused of the Paris bombing.

In June 2011, an Ottawa judge ordered him extradited to France. Several appeals for justice failed.

Canada's Supreme Court refused to hear his case. A day after last November's decision, he was extradited. His lawyer, Donald Bayne, said he wasn't even given time to see his family before departure.
