Obama's Permanent War Agenda

December 23rd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

He continues a longstanding tradition. America's agenda is permanent war.

Lew Rockwell calls it "The Forever War." Law Professor Marjorie Cohn says it "perpetual war."

So did Gore Vidal in his 2002 book titled "Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace," saying: "(O)ur rulers for more than half a century have made sure that we are never to be told the truth about anything that our government has done to other people, not to mention our own."

Ukraine Headed for Disaster

December 22nd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Perfect storm conditions threaten Ukrainians. In Europe's heartland. Fascist dictatorship. Mass impoverishment. Growing deprivation.

Civl war. Potential economic collapse. Troubled nuclear reactors. Facing possible meltdown. More on this below.

Ukraine's economy is rife with problems. Potential bankruptcy looms. IMF aid caused more harm than good. Largely used to pay Western bankers. Wage war on Donbas.

Small amounts replenishing evaporating foreign exchange reserves. A portion for Russia gas supplies. Nothing for economic growth.

What Ukraine needs most of all. Other than ending its dirty war on Donbas. Rapprochement with Russia. Serving its people responsibly. Kiev governance is polar opposite.

Israel's War on Press Freedom

December 22nd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

In its 2013 report, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) ranked Israel 112th in world press freedom.

On the one hand, Israeli journalists largely enjoy free expression. On the other, major structural barriers exist.

Relating to military control. So-called security issues. Marginalizing press freedom. RSF saying:

"Continuing confrontations in the Palestinian Territories and many cities in Israel are marked by Israeli authorities flouting of basic rights, including freedom of information."

"Many journalists have been targeted by the Israeli army. Others have been arrested arbitrarily. And security forces have been conducting raids on media offices."

US Attempted Color Revolution in Russia?

December 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

America seeks unipolar/New World Order dominance. All nations bowing to its will. Russia is in the eye of the storm.

Longstanding US policy calls for regime change. Eliminating its sovereign independence.

Replacing it with pro-Western stooge governance. Puppet rule Washington controls. Color revolutions are a US specialty.

Tactics developed earlier. Through years of trial and error. Largely perfected. Successful most often.

Anglo-American Axis Wages Financial/Economic War Against Russia

Trilateral Commission Crashes the Russian Ruble

Manipulating The Price Of Oil Downward

Jesuit Weapons of War: Economic Terrorism and Financial Sabotage
Commodity Speculation and Currency Manipulation

State of the Nation

That a Nobel Peace Prize winner would lead the charge to bring wrack and ruin to a nation like Russia is not as surprising as one would think. The USA has always been used as the primary policeman for the Anglo-American Axis (AAA), especially when military aggression is required to prevent any given nation from leaving the dollar-denominated reservation. Which is precisely why the Nobel Committee gave Barack Obama cover by fraudulently awarding him the ‘peace prize’. They knew he would be leading the USA & Company against the Russian boogeyman in the not-too-distant future. That future is 2014.

Prior to an outright military invasion the AAA has historically utilized their arsenal of economic assaults and financial attacks to soften up the enemy. The current regime of extra-legal US and European sanctions, no matter what form they have taken, are all designed to destroy the Russian economy. Whether it has been declared or not, the Western powers have commenced a full blown war against Russia.

What very few people realize is that Obama’s rise to the presidency ONLY occurred with his agreement to prosecute Russia whenever directed to do so. In fact much of his 2008 election campaign rhetoric concerning foreign policy was peppered with language that clearly reflected his loyalty to the Cold Warriors of yesteryear. How else does anyone think he could have accumulated a record-smashing $750 million in campaign contributions?

“In 21-plus months, Barack Obama raised roughly $750 million from donors, surpassing all of his White House opponents this year and also eclipsing the total amount of money raised by all of the presidential candidates combined in 2004.”[1]
(2008 ABC News Report)

The two key figures behind the unrivaled campaign chests amassed by Obama prior to both of his presidential elections were George Soros and Zbigniew Brzezinski. Read More

Fidel's Legacy

December 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

At age 88, he's Cuba's elder statesman. A legend in his own time and then some. Defying critics. Outwitting them. Outliving them.

This article a snapshot of some of his achievements. Impressive by any standard.

On the 50th anniversary of his July 26, 1953 Fort Moncada attack, media scoundrels pronounced his revolution dead.

Expected collapse. Predicted free market capitalism's return. The bad old days called good. More on Cuba under Castro below.

A previous article discussed America's master plan for world dominance. Key is eliminating all sovereign independent governments.

By political, economic or military means. Installing puppet regimes. Convenient stooges. Subservient to Washington.

Few nations challenge US policies successfully. Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz bested 10 US administrations. From Eisenhower through George Bush.

Russian Roulette: Taxpayers Could Be on the Hook for Trillions in Oil Derivatives

December 21st, 2014

by Ellen Brown

The sudden dramatic collapse in the price of oil appears to be an act of geopolitical warfare against Russia. The result could be trillions of dollars in oil derivative losses; and the FDIC could be liable, following repeal of key portions of the Dodd-Frank Act last weekend.

Senator Elizabeth Warren charged Citigroup last week with “holding government funding hostage to ram through its government bailout provision.” At issue was a section in the omnibus budget bill repealing the Lincoln Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act, which protected depositor funds by requiring the largest banks to push out a portion of their derivatives business into non-FDIC-insured subsidiaries.

Warren and Representative Maxine Waters came close to killing the spending bill because of this provision. But the tide turned, according to Waters, when not only Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, but President Obama himself lobbied lawmakers to vote for the bill.

It was not only a notable about-face for the president but represented an apparent shift in position for the banks. Before Jamie Dimon intervened, it had been reported that the bailout provision was not a big deal for the banks and that they were not lobbying heavily for it, because it covered only a small portion of their derivatives. As explained in Time:

Israel Bombs Gaza

December 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Israeli warplanes attacked on December 20. Lawlessly. Committed war crimes. More on this below.

Operation Protective Edge (OPE) was cold, calculated, long-planned, premeditated Israeli naked aggression.

Murdering or injuring thousands of Gazans. Around 80% civilians. Willfully targeted. In residential areas.

Turning large parts of Gaza to rubble. Genocidal high crimes by any standard. War raged from July 8 to August 26.

Ceasefire terms were agreed on. Hamas scrupulously observes them. Including halting all hostilities. Israel violated them straightaway.

Hasta la Victoria Siempre! Revolutionary Cuba outlasts the empire's irrational hatred

December 21st, 2014

by Daniel Patrick Welch

The US announcement on normalizing diplomatic relations with Cuba should be seen as a major and historic victory for Cuba and the peoples of the Global South generally--and it needs to be hammered home that it is a sign of failure on the part of empire. There is, first and foremost a real and meaningful admission that their strategies to topple the revolution have all failed--as well as, from the other side, an impressive and inspiring feat that a revolutionary people of this tiny island have surmounted every effort to crush the revolutioin from a maniacal hegemonic power. This is especially noteworthy in having overcome the collapse of the USSR, which observers have thought would quickly lead to the fall of the Cuban Revolution.

Longstanding US Cuba Policy: Regime Change

December 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Obama is right. Sanctions don't work. Not against Cuba. Russia. Iran or other countries. Provided they stay firm.

Defending their sovereign rights. Cuba did admirably. For over half a century. Against US imperialism.

Its leadership a testimony to successful sovereign resilience. Prevailing against long odds.

Longstanding US Cuban policy failed. Washington's objective remains unchanged. Regime change! Installing pro-Western stooge governance. Returning Cuba to its bad old days.

Castro gained power on January 1, 1959. Transforming a repressive brothel into a populist state. Ousting Washington's man in Havana. Fulgencio Batista. A despot by any standard.
