Damascus
The morning following President Obama’s announcement he would not bomb Syria immediately, the streets of Damascus were packed with shoppers and employees heading to their jobs. Several reasons for this were mentioned by my friend, Eyman. Some Damascenes who had fled their homes last week had returned, and a palpable sense of at least temporary relief pervades much of this capital city. It is also the first of the month. In Syria, government and other employees have just received their monthly paychecks and need to stock up on food, particularly now, upon entering this most uncertain month.
America's Intelligence Budget Black Hole

On August 29, the Washington Post headlined "US spy network's successes, failures and objectives detailed in 'black budget' summary," saying:
Post-9/11, US spy agencies "built an intelligence-gathering colossus. (It) remain(s) unable to provide critical information to the president on a range of national security threats, according to the government’s top-secret budget."
Its budget totals $52.6 billion for FY 2013. WaPo obtained it "from intelligence contractor Edward Snowden."
It discusses a "bureaucratic and operational landscape." It was never before subjected to public scrutiny.
It shows a dominant CIA role. It reveals significant cyberoperations. It discloses important knowledge gaps about targeted countries.
Israeli Lobby Targets Syria and Iran

Waging war on Syria is prelude to targeting Iran. The road to Tehran runs through Damascus.
It's the Lobby's prime target. It's Israel's. It's America's. First things first. War on Syria rages. Obama plans direct US intervention.
He intends lawless aggression. He decided irrespective of Security Council and/or congressional authorization.
The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) calls itself "the most influential group on the issue of US-Israel military relations." It "advocate(s) on behalf of a strong US military, a robust national security policy and a strongU.S security relationship with Israel and other like-minded democracies."
Obama Intends Lawless Aggression on Syria

On Saturday, he replicated John Kerry's Colin Powell moment. He lied like he always does.
His war plans were delayed. They're not deterred. They're not halted. Obama plans aggressive war on Syria. He does so with or without Security Council and/or congressional approval. On August 31, a White House Office of the Press Secretary release reported his remarks. It headlined "Statement by the President on Syria," saying:
"Ten days ago, the world watched in horror as men, women and children were massacred in Syria in the worst chemical weapons attack of the 21st century."

The story was headlined: “Jerusalem mayor demands investigation of secret ‘smart tracking devices’ in toilets”. The executives of an Israeli company that installed high tech toilets to secretly track the smart-phones of defecators are facing charges of ‘privacy violation’. The company, cleverly named ‘Two Commandments’, ( as in ‘Ye shall make money’ and ‘Ye shall not get caught’), a Tel Aviv-based marketing and private government subcontractor, developed ‘smart pods’ to capture smells, color, expulsive energy and volatile gases. One of the owners, Bibby Dershitz, (a ‘21st century Moses’, according to the Wall Street Journal), claimed the device provided valuable marketing information on consumer habits. According to Bibby’s partner, Laura Klapshitz, “the color, size, texture, density and chemical composition of turds reveals eating and drinking habits and can lead to the development of food products, which are easier to digest, reducing gas and disagreeable lower bowel sounds.”

“Conspiracy” is a REAL word for a REAL act that has existed in human societies in all cultures throughout human history. If conspiracies did not exist, we would not have a word for it. The problem that we face today is that the US Government has arrogated to itself a singular role as a political pontificate that believes that it and its agents in the Justice Department, alone, constitute the only “person” (corporate person) on this Earth who is allowed to use the word “conspiracy” as it employs the charge of “conspiracy” every week in trials to put both guilty and innocent people in jail while deriding and discrediting all others who employ the word as “conspiracy theorists.” (Paris Flammonde) [2q]

US State Terror Targets Syria

Sunday was John Kerry's third Colin Powell moment. Lies beget more of them. Kerry's a serial liar. He's a malicious one.
He appeared on five Sunday talk shows. He wrongfully blamed Assad for August 21's Ghouta attack. He said Syria used sarin nerve gas.
He has "high confidence" Congress will approve lawless aggression. In 2002, it authorized "use of military force against Iraq."
It's uncertain if they'll do so against Syria. On September 9, it returns from summer recess. Unless called back earlier into special session, we won't know until it votes yea or nay.
Obama's weak assessment, weak evidence to attack Syria

The intelligence assessment sent to Congress by President Obama supports the president's request that Congress authorize military action against Syria. The assessment consists of a series of assertions about evidence available without any display of that evidence. The materials are "classified," according to the document. That means we won't see the evidence. It also means that Congress can't investigate or debate the quality and reliability of the evidence in public since that would reveal classified information.
Since the chemical incident on August 21, the White House has argued with increasing confidence that the Syrian government was responsible for initiating the attack.

I first opened the checking and savings accounts, along with a safe deposit box, in the early 1980s, at Fidelity Bank. Then, through a series of mergers and buy-outs, it became First Fidelity, then First Union, and then Wachovia.
It was a good bank, with conveniently located branches and ATMs, friendly staff, and a reasonable fee structure. For three decades, it was my primary bank - where my paychecks were automatically deposited and from which most of my bills were automatically paid. It was all smooth and easy.
But then Wells Fargo bought Wachovia.
First, the rates went up. Now I had to maintain $1,500 in my checking account - rather than $1,000 - in order to avoid a monthly service charge. And my checking and savings accounts no longer entitled me to a 50% discount on my safe deposit box rental.
