A new report released by two international weapons monitoring groups, the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), confirmed on Tuesday that the Pentagon is continuing to ship massive amounts of weapons to Syria. In addition, the Department of Defense is attempting to destroy its own paper trail. Both the OCCRP and the BIRN provided conclusive evidence that the Pentagon is shipping in up to $2.2 billion worth of weapons from private weapons dealers to terrorists in Syria. They also provided evidence that the DOD is altering paperwork such as end-user certificates in order to hide its involvement.

Protests have gone on for a second day in St Louis after a white, former police officer was acquitted of the fatal shooting of a black suspect in 2011. Despite the tension between demonstrators and police, and damaged property no major clashes were reported. Dozens of windows across the city were smashed and trash cans overturned, forcing police in riot gear to move in and declare the gathering an unlawful assembly.

The European Court of Justice ruled September 13 that Member States cannot adopt emergency measures banning genetically modified organisms (GMOs) without evidence of a "serious risk to health or the environment" — although the ruling contradicts European Union legislation.

Pet owners who abandoned their animals during Hurricane Irma may face criminal charges in Florida. Palm Beach prosecutors said they intend to hold offenders accountable.
More than 50 animals were found abandoned, many tied to fences and trees in Palm Beach county when Irma made landfall last week. Some dogs were found inside homes, while others were enclosed in outdoor pens.
In Palm Beach County it is illegal to tether a dog if there is no one present. It is also a felony offence to keep a dog outside during extreme weather.
Offenders could face felony animal cruelty charges, those who abandoned their animals will not be not able to get them back.
State prosecutors and Animal Care and Control are working together to track the owners by various means, including interviewing neighbors and checking pet microchips.
The U.S. House sent a strong message of rebuke to Attorney General Jeff Sessions on civil asset forfeiture last night. The House adopted three amendments offered to an appropriations bill that prohibit the Department of Justice from using funds to increase certain federal and local forfeiture practices.
Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) summed up the problem with civil asset forfeiture in one sentence. “It is an unconstitutional practice that is used to violate the due process rights of innocent people.
Hawaii said Tuesday that it aims to be the first state to have marijuana sales handled without cash, saying it wanted to avoid robberies and other crimes targeting dispensaries.
All of Hawaii’s eight licensed dispensaries have agreed to go cashless by Oct. 1, the governor’s office said. The dispensaries will ask patients to use a debit payment app to buy their pot instead of cash. The app is already an option for marijuana transactions in six states, including California and Colorado.

President Trump has blocked one of the largest attempted acquisitions of a US company by a Chinese firm. Trump issued an executive order through the Defense Production Act of 1950, denying the Chinese-backed private equity firm Canyon Bridge Capital Partners from acquiring US-based chipmaker Lattice Semiconductor Corporation for $1.3 billion.
Trump stated that Canyon Bridge “shall take all steps necessary to fully and permanently abandon the proposed transaction,” Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin: "Consistent with the administration's commitment to take all actions necessary to ensure the protection of US national security, the president issued an order prohibiting the acquisition."

“Some countries have made a timeline for when to stop the production and sales of traditional fuel cars. India's Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the government is mulling a plan to incentivize electric vehicles in the country by discouraging the manufacturing and import of vehicles run on petrol and diesel. Government aims to have only electric vehicles in India by 2030 and has advised the industry to do research and development on alternate modes of transport.

The US could impose economic sanctions on China if it does not implement the new sanctions regime against North Korea, the US Treasury Secretary has warned. Steven Mnuchin said the restrictions could involve cutting off Beijing’s access to the US financial system.
“North Korea economic warfare works,” Mnuchin said Tuesday at the Delivering Alpha Conference in New York City. “We sent a message that anybody who wanted to trade with North Korea – we would consider them not trading with us; if China doesn’t follow these sanctions, we will put additional sanctions on them and prevent them from accessing the US and international dollar system.”

Violence has erupted as thousands of people took to the street of Paris to protest against a new labor law proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron. Gangs of rioters threw stones and smoke grenades at low enforcement officers in central Paris where a mass protest against the French president's new labor initiative took place. Police responded with tear gas. The labor law widely criticized by unions and left-wing parties; would make it easier for companies to lay off staff and cut overtime payments. The National Front (FN) party said the reforms appear to favor large firms rather than small or medium-sized companies.

The United States has now officially accumulated a $20 trillion debt. The ceiling was broken after the White House allowed the Treasury to borrow more money.

A 26-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after shooting a homeless man who allegedly asked her to move her Porsche because she was playing music in the car at 3am.
Gerard Melton, 54, was trying to sleep on the sidewalk in Nashville, Tennessee, when he “became disturbed” by exhaust fumes and loud music coming from Katie Quackenbush’s luxury SUV, Metropolitan Nashville Police said. A heated argument followed, which culminated in Quackenbush allegedly getting out of her vehicle and firing two shots at Melton before getting back into the Porsche and fleeing the scene.

No sanctions will make North Korea change its policies, says the country’s ambassador to Moscow. The diplomat added that North Korea’s nuclear program will help his country better deter the “hostile policy of the US”.
“We have lived under US sanctions for decades. Under the harshest of sanctions. But we have acquired everything we wanted to. If the US hopes that our position would be shaken and changed, that is an illusion,” Kim Yong-jae told the Russian media.
