An Israeli plane has targeted Syrian army positions in the Hama province, killing two servicemen and causing material damage, Syrian general command said in a statement.

The incident took place early on Thursday, when an Israeli aircraft launched several missiles from Lebanese airspace, targeting Syrian Army positions near the city of Masyaf in Hama province. China is preparing to denominate crude oil futures contracts in Chinese yuan to be convertible into gold. A cluster of earthquakes at the Yellowstone Park volcano is the most active it’s been in recent history. The earthquake count is up to 2,357 since June with the largest having a magnitude of 4.4. A swarm of earthquakes is rather normal for Yellowstone, but the number of quakes is approaching a new record.

The current swarm is approaching the record set in 1985 when three months brought over 3,000 earthquakes. In 2010 a swarm brought over 2,000 earthquakes over a month. The last volcanic eruption within the caldera [crater] was 70,000 years ago

Syrian troops are now at the gates of the Islamic State-besieged city of Deir ez-Zor, the governor of the province said, as the government forces continue to press forward, obliterating terrorist positions in the vicinity and on the outskirts of the city. The key Euphrates city of Deir ez-Zor has been under terrorist siege for two and a half years, after being cut off from government-held areas in May 2015 during the jihadists’ offensive on Palmyra. An object appearing to be unexploded ordnance was found at disaster-hit Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant by a worker, according to Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc., who reported the find to police.

An 5.3 earthquake followed by half a dozen aftershocks have struck Idaho near the state border with Wyoming, some 28 km east of Soda Springs which has a population of roughly 3,000 people, the USGS announced. Idaho is rarely associated with earthquakes, due to the state’s close proximity to the supervolcano under Yellowstone National Park, seismic activity is possible in the area. US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has warned that any attack on the United States or its allies will be met with a "massive military response," and said that while the US was not “looking for the total annihilation” of North Korea, it had “many options to do so.”
