Spain's largest bank Santander bought its rival Banco Popular for €1 on Wednesday after the EU warned the lender was on the verge of collapse. The oldest human fossils ever discovered have been unearthed in Morocco in a finding hailed as a significant step in the research of human ancestry and origins. The fossils are about 100,000 years older than any previously known human remains. The fossils, discovered at the Jebel Irhoud archeological site in Morocco, belonged to three adults, one adolescent, and one child who was around eight years old.
Sunshine Coast city council laid waste to a 7-year-old organically grown fruit tree forest. A group of Filipino rescuers, nicknamed the Suicide Squad, are risking their lives to save hundreds of civilians trapped in Marawi, which is under the control of Islamic State-linked militants. The Suicide Squad have rescued more than 500 civilians in the last two weeks.
