Manning's Lawyer Plans Clemency/Presidential Appeals

On Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2013, Pfc. Bradley Manning’s attorney David Coombs held a press conference at a hotel in Hanover, MD. It is located just minutes from Fort Meade, where his client the Wikileaks whistle-blower had earlier received a 35-year prison sentence from the trial judge, Col. Denise Lind. Manning also was “dishonorably discharged.” He was found guilty of various charges ranging from computer fraud to federal theft dealing with the unauthorized release of “over 700,000 documents.” Mr. Coombs indicated that he plans to file a clemency appeal on his client’s behalf with the Court Martial Convening Authority Major General Jeffrey Buchanan.
