It took, literally, no time at all before her ideas were condemned as “socialist” or “communist,” by not just GOP presidential nominee President Donald Trump but economic experts, too. Trump’s campaign cited the analysis of a commentator from the leftist CNN, Catherine Rampell, who pointed out Harris’s plans already have been tried in other locations. “We’ve seen this kind of thing tried in lots of other countries before, Venezuela, Argentina, the Soviet Union. It leads to shortages. It leads to black markets, plenty of uncertainty.”
