In one of his verbose obfuscations of reality, President Obama declared on June 23, 2009;
“The United States respects the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is not interfering with Iran’s affairs. Some in Iran — some in the Iranian government, in particular, are trying to avoid that debate by accusing the United States and others in the West of instigating protests over the election. These accusations are patently false.”
The facts as reported elsewhere provide the evidence that the United States government is directly engaged in its continuing historic role as a racist colonizing state by its interference in the internal affairs of Iran and providing tax exempt status---a form of indirect funding---for organizations engaged in these activities.
Seymour Hersh in his article entitled, “Preparing The Battlefield” dated July 7, 2008, stated:
“ Congress agreed to a request from President Bush to fund a major escalation of covert operations against Iran…These operations, for which the President sought up to four hundred million dollars ($400,000,000.), were described in a Presidential Finding signed by Bush, and are designed to destabilize the country’s religious leadership. The covert activities involve support of the minority Ahwazi Arab and Baluchi groups and other dissident organizations…Clandestine operations against Iran are not new. United States Special Operations Forces have been conducting cross-border operations from southern Iraq, with Presidential authorization, since last year (2007) These have included seizing members of Al Quds, the commando arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and taking them to Iraq for interrogation…the scale and the scope of the operations in Iran, which involve the Central Intelligence Agency and the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), have now been significantly expanded… Under federal law, a Presidential Finding, which is highly classified, must be issued when a covert intelligence operation gets under way and… must be made known to Democratic and Republican leaders in the House and the Senate and to the ranking members of their respective intelligence committees—the so-called Gang of Eight.” It includes Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Intelligence Committee chairman John D. Rockefeller IV, and House Intelligence Committee chairman Silvestre Reyes who viewed the C.I.A. torture tapes in 2002).
In an article entitled “Beware Regime Change” in the New York Times of June 6, 2003, Cameron Kamran writes:
“In a conference in early May, Michael Ledeen of the American Enterprise Institute said that outside actors were needed to spark change among an Iranian population fed up with clerical rule. He has joined Morris Amitay, a former director of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, and James Woolsley, a former CIA chief, to create the Coalition for Democracy in Iran. Meanwhile in Congress, Senator Sam Brownback has introduced an amendment, called the Iran Democracy Act and supported by AIPAC, asking for $50 million to fund opposition groups dedicated to the overthrow of the Islamic regime…The Coalition for Democracy in Iran has strong ties to the exiled Reza Pahlavi, the deceased shah's son, and the Iran Democracy Act would largely fund dissident groups that advocate a restoration of the monarchy.”
On May 6, 2003 The American Enterprise Institute hosted a conference at Washington D.C.’s Wohlstetter Conference Center. The forum, cosponsored by the Hudson Institute and the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, included a discussion on “What lies ahead for Iran?” and “What steps can the United States take to promote democratization and regime change in Iran?” Noted moderators and panelists included: Meyrav Wurmser of the Hudson Institute; Uri Lubrani of the Israeli Defense Ministry; US Senator Sam Brownback; Michael A. Ledeen and Reuel Marc Gerecht, both of the AEI; Bernard Lewis of Princeton University; and Morris Amitay of The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs.
On May 1, 2006 Reza Pahlavi, son of the late Shah of Iran, told the editors of HUMAN EVENTS that
… “he hopes to finalize the organization of a movement aimed at overthrowing the Islamic regime in Tehran and replacing it with a democratic government.
He believes the cause is urgent because of the prospect that Iran may soon develop a nuclear weapon or the U.S. may use military force to preempt that. He hopes to offer a way out of this dilemma: a revolution sparked by massive civil disobedience in which the masses in the streets are backed by elements of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
He also said that the U.S. and other governments can help by imposing “smart sanctions” on the leaders of Iranian regime…”
To bring us up to date on this ongoing and continuing interference in the internal affairs of Iran, USA Today reports on June 26, 2009 that:
“The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which reports to the secretary of state, has for the last year been soliciting applications for $20 million in grants to "promote democracy, human rights, and the rule of law in Iran," according to documents on the agency's website. The final deadline for grant applications is June 30… The State Department and USAID decline to name Iran-related grant recipients for security reasons.”
In the meantime, the the Jewish Zionist led, Christian Zionist supported Israeli government is bombing, strafing, shooting the people of Palestine; using behemoth bulldozers supplied by Caterpillar to demolish more than a thousand Palestinian homes and eradicate hundreds of whole villages and towns; crush thousands of hectares of decades old olive and orange orchids; they fly their supersonic jets low over the Palestinian population and break the sound barrier to create the sonic boom that has deafened hundreds of vulnerable Palestinian children; they are building ghetto style armed Jewish settlements on the high ground all over the territory of Palestine; they restrict the water, the electricity, the medical care, the sewage, the education, the employment, the travel, the communications and every facet of the lives of the people of Palestine; they make targeted assassinations of the selected and elected representatives chosen by the people of Palestine killing dozens of other people in the process; they have confiscated court, land and title records that confirm the property rights of the people of Palestine; they are building a wall to recreate their beloved ghetto existence armed to the teeth with nuclear bombs and chemical and biological weapons: they have driven millions of the people of Palestine off of the land of their forebears.
In response to these ongoing racist colonizing activities of the United States partner in these activities in the Middle East, it is reported, in Israel’s Jerusalem Post of May 31, 2009, that President Obama stated:
"In my conversations with Prime Minister Netanyahu I was very clear about the need to stop the settlements; to make sure that we are stopping the building of outposts; to work with the Palestinian Authority in order to alleviate some of the pressures that the Palestinian people are under in terms of travel and commerce,"
President Obama’s verbose obfuscations of reality remind me of that curious country song that declares, “I TOLD HER EVERYTHING BUT THE TRUTH”
