Excuse The American Left Mr. Gibbs

Robert Gibbs complaining about the left shouldn’t come as any big surprise. The Obama administration has ignored the left since its inception and will continue to do so. So Gibbs thinks we shouldn’t complain that he’s too centrist? What is that, double speak for waging war in faraway places? Is that a “centrist” thing to do? In this day and age I guess it is. Centrism among the politicians means far right to the real left.

How do I know what the left wants? I AM the left. I eat it, I drink it, I spend my days thinking about it. I recently joined the Democratic Socialists of America. I am a card carrying member of the American left. I don’t need Gibbs telling me that I’m pushing Obama too fast. I couldn’t be bothered. Obama is just what the powers that be want him to be. He preached to the choir and the choir fell for it, this after he reneged on the FISA Bill and gave immunity to the telecoms after promising to filibuster the bill. He also said that he wouldn’t take money for his campaign from special interests. Do I have to tell you that Goldman Sachs was one of his biggest contributors? So when will the left get wise to Obama?

It’s already happening. This is precisely why Gibbs made the comments that he made. The publisher of a large website told me that after the election that “We were going to hold his feet to the fire”. I’m doing just that. Why are we in Afghanistan? Are we there to “help” the people of that country? When have we ever invaded another country to “help” them? How much have we “helped” the Iraqi people? The city of Fallujah had more radiation from DU weapons that the city of Hiroshima had directly after the atomic bomb hit them! This is how we “help” other nations.

Is Gibbs upset because many on the left don’t want to attack Iran, nor do we want Israel to do it? Is he angry because we want the Bush tax breaks to the wealthy abolished? Is he embarrassed because the left didn’t embrace Obamacare because it not only didn’t have single payor but it didn’t even have a public option? Well, excuse us for thinking. Get a grip Mr. Gibbs. We have been sold out by degrees and most of us are cognizant that this is happening.

Let’s go to some of the worst of the Obama messages being sent around the world. Does he represent the left when he puts eight American military bases in Columbia, a right-wing narco state? Does he represent the left when he puts two American bases in Honduras after he let the CIA overthrow the legitimate leftist government? What about reactivating the fourth fleet for duty in Latin and Central America? Is the left proud when he tries to put 40 warships and 7,000 troops in Costa Rica?

What about extra-ordinary rendition that still takes place? What about Guantanamo? What about the withdrawal of 90,000 from Iraq? These are the things that bother the left. One other thing before I take my leave, why hasn’t the White House appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the allegations of torture by the Bush administration, along with the lies they told that gave them a pretext for invading Iraq? What about a criminal investigation on the events of 9/11? There is so much to say to Mr. Gibbs. I just outlined some of the biggest grievances. I just pray that the Obama Administration gets its collective head out of its ass before we ruin this country.
