Bill and Hillary releasing their joint 2015 tax returns was an exercise in smoke screen deception.
While showing $10.6 million in joint income, down from $28 million in 2014, concealed was their real source of super-wealth - the Clinton Foundation, a tax-free international money-laundering scam masquerading as a charitable NGO.
Since its 2001 founding, it’s taken in around $2 billion from wealthy donors and foreign nations in return for favors dispensed worth much more to contributors.
Only 10% of funds received go for charitable purposes, the rest for other purposes including self-enrichment - what’s most important about their net worth left unexplained on their tax returns.
Nomi Prins reviewed Peter Schweizer’s expose of Clinton chicanery, titled “Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich.”
He “lays out compelling patterns in which the timing of policy decisions or international deals relative to donations, transcends coincidence - or at least, merits closer inspection,” said Prins.
They accumulated super-wealth through influence-selling. In return for multi-millions of dollars in grants (besides numerous 6-figure speaking fees, lucrative book deals and more), they dispensed hugely profitable favors to donors.
Connecting with powerful public and private interests lets them “mov(e) a lot of money around with very little accountability,” said Schweizer.
As secretary of state, “changes in (US) policies conformed with the interest of Clinton Foundation large donors,” he explained - including an array of foreign despots.
Political corruption is longstanding and bipartisan. The Clintons aren’t unique, but demand close scrutiny because of their likely ascendancy to another co-presidency next year.
Schweizer calls their “pattern of behavior…too blatant to ignore, and deserves legal scrutiny” well beyond the capabilities of investigative journalism.
Their abuses of power in office and methods of accumulating super-wealth should give everyone pause about supporting them.
