America Resembles Gunfight at the OK Corral

July 19th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Hollywood is now real life. Instead of good v. bad guys shoot ‘em ups, it’s killer cops against people of color, mostly unarmed Black youths, victims of racist injustice.

Do five Dallas police officers lethally shot days earlier, another 10 wounded and now three Baton Rouge cops killed, seven others wounded on Sunday indicate victims are beginning to retaliate - or perhaps as one of my readers suggests a “gov’t covert ops designed to foment race war.”

Most likely it reflects a combination of justifiable public anger exploding, along with state-sponsored terrorism, most recently in Orlando and Nice, false flags turning Western communities into battlegrounds - terrifying people to accept permanent wars on humanity and elimination of fundamental freedoms on the phony pretext of protecting national security.

Brexit: A Workers’ Response to Oligarchs, Bankers, Flunkies and Scabs

July 19th, 2016

James Petras

Introduction

The European Union is controlled by an oligarchy, which dictates socio-economic and political decisions according to the interests of bankers and multi-national business. The central organs of power, the European Commission (EC), the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have systematically imposed austerity programs that have degraded working conditions, welfare programs, and wages and salaries.

EU policies demanding the free immigration of non-unionized workers to compete with native workers have undermined wage and workplace protections, union membership and class solidarity. EU financial policies have enhanced the power of finance capital and eroded public ownership of strategic economic sectors.

The European Union has imposed fiscal policies set by non-elected oligarchs over and against the will and interests of the democratic electorate. As a result of EU dictates, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Ireland have suffered double-digit unemployment rates, as well as massive reductions of pensions, health and educational budgets. A huge transfer of wealth and concentration of decision-making has occurred in Europe.

Republican Political Circus Kicks Off in Cleveland

July 19th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Political conventions showcase party standard bearers, portray unity, and create the illusion of a political process serving everyone equitably - democratic governance at its best when nonexistent.

Cleveland is Trump’s show, presumptive GOP nominee, to become official when delegates formally choose him as party standard bearer.

Convention proceedings more resemble reality TV than democracy in action. A rogue’s gallery of speakers include right-wing politicians, military figures, and Trump family members, culminating with the nominee’s acceptance speech.

Daily themes include making America safe again, making it work again, making it first again and making it one again - the usual type pomp and circumstance signifying nothing, circus proceedings, little more, best ignored.

Erdogan, Turkey’s Netanyahu

July 19th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

They’re two of a kind, power-hungry despots masquerading as democrats, waging wars at their discretion, killing and persecuting with impunity, hostile to fundamental civil and human rights - scoffing at rule of law principles, values, norms and standards, getting away with high crimes because who’ll intervene to stop them.

They’re valued US imperial allies. Ironically Obama has strained relations with both leaders - forced to tolerate what he can’t change, so far at least.

What can’t go on forever won’t, nor will their leadership stand the test of time. Whether their successors improve or worsen things remains to be seen.

Robert Reich’s Fraud

July 19th, 2016

Eric Zuesse

Robert Reich, the proud friend of Hillary Clinton since she was 19 years old, says, "there has never been any finding that Hillary Clinton engaged in illegal behavior.”

Everyone except the Obama Administration has “found” that in her handling of her State Department emails, she broke at least the following six U.S. federal criminal laws (none of which laws was so much as considered by the FBI’s ‘investigation’, because it’s too obvious that she did what these laws describe — that she violated each one of these laws):

Don't Let Barack Obama Suspend the 2016 Presidential Elections

July 18th, 2016

by Voice of Reason The Last Great Stand

USA Politics Today reports:
Martial law is declared during a crisis – This is when all civil activities must be managed by government to keep the peace.

Many constitutional rights are suspended during martial law, and supposed to be reinstated once the crisis is under control.

To make sure everyone knows what we’re talking about here when there are continued references to Martial Law, the video below takes a glimpse into what Martial Law would look like. In the video, Alex Jones uncovers one of the most detrimental plans facing humanity today. In his shocking report Alex details the governments insidious plan to put it’s own citizens under martial law in order to strip them of all rights. Now the government is issuing subliminal propaganda via the Ad Council, who claims it has no idea how a news cast mentioning martial law wound up in an AARP ad. Uh, sure.

Click here to get a glimpse into what Martial Law would look like in the United States

“Many are speculating Obama is ready to declare martial law and postpone the election!

On the surface, this seems very unlikely and unbelievable. However, by doing a thorough analysis on everything that has happened up until now, all Americans should be aware that this kind of scenario is very possible.” The incredible backlash a Trump nomination could cause among the political establishment is so great, many are speculating Obama is ready to declare martial law and postpone the election!

“On July 2, 2008 at a campaign stop, Obama made the following unscripted statement: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Obama has created law enforcement branches in more than 70 federal government agencies, which means there are more than 120,000 law enforcement agents in the federal government for him to utilize. Plus, departments you wouldn’t expect, such as the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have purchased hundreds of thousands of hollow point bullets.

In the information that follows below, I provide a thorough analysis of everything that has happened up until now as the author suggests. To do so, I have isolated a number of stories that I found particularly alarming over the last six months. They are listed in chronological order with the most recent story being at the end. At various points on the timeline, I provide some of the key takeaways from certain noteworthy posts.

At the end of this post, after reviewing the stories that have come out over the last six months, YOU be the judge. I suggest looking at the sequence of events below not as isolated events that each took place in a vacuum, but rather as ONE continuous narrative that has been permitted to play out under one very sick president. Ultimately, YOU make the determination if it might it be time for you to start squirreling away the types of supplies you might need in the event that Obama decides to go WAY off the reservation this time…

Russia Risks Losing Its Advantage Gained in Syria

July 18th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

It’s hard fathoming Russia’s Syria strategy. Scaling back its aerial operations last March gave US-supported ISIS and other terrorist groups time to regroup, rearm and replenish their ranks for new attacks ongoing.

A previous article said Moscow continues the futility of negotiating with Washington in good faith, its adversary, not partner.

Believing diplomacy with a sworn enemy can work is foolhardy and fruitless, risking the opposite outcome of what’s sought.

The only language America understands is force. It’s time to stop believing otherwise and start going all-out to liberate Syria from the terrorist scourge it created and supports.

Otherwise it’ll flourish, grow, likely spread to Russia’s heartland and elsewhere, making it much harder to contain and defeat.

Clinton’s National Security Strategy: Endless Wars of Aggression

July 18th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Her deplorable record speaks for itself, publicly supporting all US wars of choice, naked aggression against nonbelligerent states, raping them, responsible for mass slaughter, destruction and appalling human misery.

Don’t let her deceptive rhetoric fool you. Urging escalated war on ISIS ignores its US creation along with likeminded terrorist groups - used as imperial foot soldiers.

America’s phony war on terror is a pretext for state terror, targeting sovereign independent nations worldwide, justifying homeland repression, turning planet earth into a battleground, risking its destruction.

The possibility of a Clinton presidency should terrify everyone. She deplores peace and stability, wants America leading aggressively in waging global wars - not to “defeat ISIS” or “disrupt and dismantle the growing terrorist infrastructure…around the world.”

To foster and facilitate it, help it spread, support it with US weapons, air power and ground forces, maintain a permanent state of war.

The Clinton Nonevent

July 18th, 2016

Michael Collins

FBI Director James Comey’s recommendation against indicting Hillary Clinton is truly a nonevent. In the big picture, it means very little and signifies nothing new. Clinton indictment or not, the money dominated, corrupt, and violent system survives. (Image)

What if Clinton had been indicted?

Had Clinton been charged, that would have been the end of her campaign. All of the zombie Democrats led by their degenerate Hollywood champions could not have put her back together again.

Would we have felt the Bern?

The Sanders campaign lost its luster and claim to integrity when Sanders quietly admitted he would vote for Hillary. How do you maintain your integrity while voting for the former Secretary of State responsible for 250,000 dead Syrian people in a war she helped start?

How do you maintain you’re leading a movement when you promise your vote to someone who knew or should have known she was breaking Federal law in the way she handled highly sensitive information?

Coup Plotting: A US Tradition

July 18th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Were US dirty hands involved in Friday’s failed attempt to oust Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from power?

Relations with Obama are strained. During Erdogan’s March 31 - April 1 Nuclear Security Summit participation in Washington, no meeting between both leaders was scheduled, no White House invitation afforded.

He’s more tolerated than welcome. Establishment organization Brookings invited him to speak. Mayhem followed, his security guards making Washington look like Ankara, assaulting journalists covering his address, clashing with peaceful demonstrators outside the venue, protesting his crackdown on press freedom, other human rights abuses, war on Turkish Kurds and support for ISIS in Syria.

It’s likely Washington prefers dealing with someone else in Ankara - whether enough to want Erdogan forcefully toppled isn’t clear.
