How & Why the U.S. Media Do Propaganda Against Russia

August 22nd, 2015

Eric Zuesse, originally posted at strategic-culture.org

The owners of U.S. newsmedia know that in order to serve their fellow U.S. aristocrats who want to kick out Russia’s current leader, Vladimir Putin, so as to enable them to buy Russia’s natural resources (and highly educated work-forces) cheap via “privatizations,” their PR campaign for their fellow aristocrats (their major advertisers) must be led by ‘respectable’ newsmedia, such as Foreign Policy magazine, and not by blatantly right-wing, obviously trashy, ones, such as Fox News. Overtly conservative, nationalistic, ‘news’ media wouldn’t be able to sell to anyone who isn’t already on-board with privatizations of government assets as being a fundamental “free market” principle (i.e, equating fascism — the actual originator of privatizations — with constituting ‘capitalism,’ confusing the two systems as being one-and-the-same). So: not only the fascist media are anti-Putin, but media that pretend not to be are also.

Bolivarianism Likely to Triumph in Venezuelan December Parliamentary Elections

August 22nd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

It’s hard imagining Venezuelans rejecting Bolivarian governance under Chavez and now Maduro - responsible for vital social benefits most Americans can’t imagine, including free education to the highest levels and universal healthcare.

Despite economic hard times because of destabilizing US policies and low oil prices, Venezuelans reject returning to the ugly pre-Chavez past.

The support Maduro’s PSUV-led (United Socialist Party of Venezuela) 12-party GPP (Great Patriotic Pole) coalition first established by Chavez in 1998. Maduro said “(w)e have achieved a perfect and expanded alliance.” For the first time in Bolivarianism’s history, all coalition candidates are on the same electoral list.

Egypt’s New Anti-Terror Law Targets Press Freedom

August 22nd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Egypt is a coup d’etat installed, US supported fascist police state. Anyone challenging regime authority is targeted for elimination.

Thousands of political prisoners languish in hellish gulag conditions. Many others resisting for their fundamental rights are murdered, disappeared or sentenced to death by hanging judges.

Junta leader/US War College graduate General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi rules like a modern day pharaoh. Challenging him risks imprisonment or death.

Police states call all forms of legitimate resistance “terrorism.” On Sunday, Sisi signed a new anti-terror law, effective August 17.

Amnesty International’s Said Boumedouha said it “strike(s) at the very heart of basic freedoms. (It) vastly expands the Egyptian authorities’ powers and threatens the most fundamental rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association.”

Israel v. the World on Iran Nuclear Deal

August 22nd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

The entire free world supports the Iran nuclear deal - a tension reducing agreement lessening (not eliminating) the chance for greater regional war.

Israel’s opposition makes it more of a pariah state than already. It’s posture has nothing to do with a so-called Iranian threat. None whatever exists.

Tehran is committed to regional peace and stability. It urges a nuclear free world. Israel and America and America are the greatest threats to global peace - nuclear armed and dangerous with intent to use their most lethal weapons at their discretion - a reckless policy risking mass annihilation.

Israel Planning Ground Operations in Syria?

August 22nd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Israel partnered with Obama’s war on Syria since conflict began in March 2011. It supports ISIS and other takfiri terrorists - providing arms, treating wounded fighters in Israeli hospitals.

It conducted half a dozen or more terror bombings on Syrian targets as well as several cross-border attacks.

It’s kept a relatively low profile in partnering with Obama’s war to topple Bashar al-Assad, eliminate a regional rival and isolate Iran ahead of likely greater destabilization and possible war on the Islamic Republic based on fabricated threats - the same scheme used to ravage other regional countries.

Murder, Inc: Official Israeli Policy

August 22nd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Palestine is a free-fire zone. No safe havens exist. Mass murdering and ethnically cleansing defenseless Palestinians are longstanding Israeli policies.

So is targeting them one at a time. No miranda rights. No due process. No judicial fairness. Summary judgment approves brutalizing and killing them unaccountably.

It happens repeatedly - each time justified by fabricated claims of responding to nonexistent Palestinian threats or attacks. Victims are blamed for cold-blooded Israeli murder.

In the past week alone, Israeli forces shot three Palestinians. Two died. An IDF spokesperson lied claiming they stabbed or attempted to stab soldiers. No evidence proves it.

Trumping the Federal Debt Without Playing the Default Card

August 21st, 2015

by Ellen Brown

“The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that. So there is zero probability of default.”

— Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan on Meet the Press, August 2011

In a post on “Sovereign Man” dated August 14th, Simon Black argued that Donald Trump may be the right man for the presidency:

[T]here’s one thing that really sets him apart, that, in my opinion, makes him the most qualified person for the job:

Donald Trump is an expert at declaring bankruptcy.

When the going gets tough, Trump stiffs his creditors. He’s done it four times!

Candidly, this is precisely what the Land of the Free needs right now: someone who can stop beating around the bush and just get on with it already.

Black says the country is officially bankrupt, with the government’s financial statements showing a negative net worth of $17.7 trillion:

Nations that pass the economic point of no return can’t rebuild until they hit rock bottom. And the US is way past that point. So let’s get on with it already and hit the reset button.

Black recommends doing this by defaulting, preferably on Social Security and Medicare. But that is unlikely to suit this leading Republican candidate. As Trump said on Meet the Press on August 16:

Another Big Lie About Ukraine’s War

August 21st, 2015

Eric Zuesse

What follows here, about the current U.S. government's lying, is banned by all major news sites in the United States, and by most ‘alternative news’ sites, such as Common Dreams, Alternet, and Truthout (although some of those alt-news sites do issue watered-down reports from Robert Parry and a few other establishment journalists, about related matters):

Vladimir Kornilov posted to his facebook page on August 15th, a terrific question that’s getting increasing attention on other independent websites:

I wonder about this: When the army of the DNI [commonly called Ukraine’s ‘rebels’] are retired Russian military, the West immediately writes about "Russian aggression". And if retired (believe that retired) military mercenaries from the EU are fighting on the side of the APU [commonly called the Ukrainian government], why do the same media not write about "the aggression of the European Union?"

Two Reports Ignore Obama’s Aggression on Yemen

August 21st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Obama bears full responsibility for waging US-orchestrated, Saudi-led naked aggression on Yemen - raging nonstop for nearly five months with no end in sight, another horrific war crime on his rap sheet.

UNICEF and Amnesty International (AI) issued new reports omitting what’s most important to explain.

UNICEF titled its report “Yemen: Childhood Under Threat,” saying “nearly 400 children have been killed and over 600 others injured since the violence escalated some four months ago.”It began on March 25, nearly five months ago. Casualty figures reported way undercount reality. Total deaths by Saudi terror bombing, ground fighting, starvation, disease and overall deprivation can only be estimated - likely at least double official reports, maybe far more, along with many thousands injured, some maimed for life.

Donald Trump Makes Ukraine’s Enemies List

August 21st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

There’s nothing redeeming about a demagogic billionaire con man, self-styled celebrity, ideologically over-the-top like all other Republican and Democrat presidential aspirants - other than his in-your-face bravado shaking up an otherwise dull race for the White House.

No matter who wins in November 2016, business as usual will again triumph. Candidates differ in style alone. On all issues mattering most, they in lockstep - cardboard cutouts of each other.

So why did Trump make Kiev’s enemies list? More on this below. The regime is run by a US-installed gang of criminal misfits - guilty of virtually every crime imaginable, including major civil and human rights abuses, grand theft, bankrupting Ukraine’s economy, and waging war on its own people.
