Obama DID NOT Kill Bin Laden!

May 13th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Claiming otherwise is one of his many Big Lies. On May 1, 2011, he willfully deceived the US public saying:

"The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat Al Qaeda." "Today's achievement is a testament to the greatness of our country and the determination of the American people."

In last Sunday's London Review of Books, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh shredded Obama's Big Lie like others before him.

Obama's official narrative "might have been written by (Alice in Wonderland author) Lewis Carroll," he said. It was a total fabrication. More on his account below.

The Anti-Arab Zionized Ruling Al Saud

May 13th, 2015

Elias Akleh

The Middle Eastern region has a central geopolitical and economic importance. A united Arab world could become the major global power. Before leaving the region after WWII, Britain made sure to create two complimentary, although seemingly contradictory, terrorist entities in the region; Zionist Israel in Palestine and Wahhabi Saudi Arabia in the Arabian Peninsula. The main job of these two entities is to spread terror and cause wars in the region to keep it divided and weak. Unknowingly to the Saudi family their kingdom is also planned for division.

It must be clearly and loudly declared that the Saudi ruling family follows an anti-Arab, anti-Muslim, pro-Zionist, terror-sponsored, tyrannical, suppressive, ruthless, authoritarian, and treacherous absolute monarchy. The Saudi monarchy was established on betrayal, chauvinism, elitism, and discrimination.

Venezuela's Maduro in Moscow: Lunatics in Washington Want Him Ousted

May 12th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Venezuela and America are polar opposites. Bolivarian social justice, participatory democracy and mutual cooperation with all nations contrasts with the myth of "we the people," neoliberal harshness and endless wars on humanity.

Differences between both countries are stark. In America, a permanent state of war exists against invented enemies.

Fundamental freedoms are disappearing in plain sight. A police state apparatus controls things.

A culture of violence persists. US streets in minority communities are virtual battlegrounds.

Social decay is deepening. Secrecy and fear-mongering prevail. Political imprisonments are commonplace. America runs the world's largest gulag - operating at home and abroad.

Fast Track the Good Stuff

May 12th, 2015

By David Swanson

The U.S. Senate has been very concerned not to let peace with Iran slip into place too easily, even while a new war in Iraq and Syria proceeds without the formal pretense of Congress "authorizing" or rejecting it.

Both houses of Congress are interested in ramming through the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) on a fast track. The fast track procedure of rushing things through Congress or creating them without Congress seems to be reserved for the least popular ideas our government produces. What if, instead, a fast track were set up for those items favored by a vast majority of the public, or required for the future habitability of the planet, but which meet resistance from campaign funders, lobbyists, and the corporate media?

Phony US/Saudi Proposed 5-Day Truce in Yemen

May 12th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

A proposed 5-day humanitarian pause belies weeks of relentless terror-bombing harming civilians most - deliberately mass murdering them in cold blood.

Pausing in genocidal slaughter is subterfuge. It ignores US-orchestrated/Saudi-led naked aggression against a nation threatening no others.

It does nothing to address their illegal blockade - willfully preventing essential to life humanitarian aid from reaching Yemenis in need.

At the same time, Houthis are wrongfully blamed for defending themselves against pro-Saudi forces, imported takfiri death squads and by retaliating cross-border. On Saturday, UN humanitarian coordinator for Yemen Johannes van der Klaauw blasted Riyadh for "indiscriminate(ly) bombing…populated areas, with or without prior warning…"

German Firestorm Rises About Angela Merkel’s Lies

May 12th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

Starting on Friday May 8th, some German news media have been reporting on the release of previously secret emails from the office of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. These emails make clear that when her underlings have said, ever since 2013, that the U.S. has promised to stop tapping the phones and other communications of Germans and even of the German Chancellor herself, no such promise had actually been received from anyone in the U.S. Administration of President Barack Obama. Instead, this claim from the Chancellor’s office was being made simply in order for her to be able to win the 22 September 2013 parliamentary elections. It was contrary to fact. And it still is.

Kiev Demands Russia Pay $350 Billion for Destruction Its Own Aggression Caused in Donbass

May 12th, 2015

By Stephen Lendman

US-installed Kiev fascist putschists find new ways to elevate chutzpah to a higher level.

In April 2014, they launched premeditated US proxy naked aggression against their own people in Donbass for wanting democratic rights everyone deserves.

Mass slaughter and destruction followed. Civilians by far suffered most.

Three agreements to end conflict failed - Minsk II the latest in February.

Low-level fighting continues ahead of US/Kiev plans to escalate it full-blown. Hundreds of US combat troops and special forces are training Kiev's Nazi-infested National Guard and likeminded battalions for renewed all-out war - at Obama's discretion.

World’s Richest 80 People Own Same Amount as World’s Bottom 50%

May 11th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

Oxfam’s recent report, "WEALTH: HAVING IT ALL AND WANTING MORE” contains shocking figures that the press haven’t sufficiently publicized; so, the findings and the reliability of their sources will be discussed here. The results will then be related to the central political debate now going on in the U.S. Presidential contests for 2016, which is about equality and inequality.

First, the findings:

1. The richest 80 individuals own as much as do all of the poorest half of humanity.

2. During 2009-2014, the wealth of the 80 richest people doubled, yet the wealth of the bottom 50% declined slightly.

Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant: A Ticking Time Bomb?

May 11th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

All nuclear power plants are inherently unsafe - aging, poorly maintained ones most of all.

Entergy Corporation's Indian Point nuclear plant is located 38 miles north of New York City. It was commissioned in 1974. It experienced numerous incidents warranting concern - the latest on May 9.

A transformer exploded. Fire and black smoke were visible. The plant's Unit 3 was shut down after the incident. Officials claimed no threat to public safety.

Whether true or not, who knows. When incidents like this happen, the public is systematically lied to.

Nuclear experts cite Indian Point's notorious history of unaddressed health hazards, safety violations, numerous accidents and pollution - issues persisting throughout its operating life.

Obama's Duplicitous V-Day Remarks

May 11th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Obama and Vladimir Putin are geopolitical polar opposites. Russia's leader supports peace, stability and mutual cooperation among all countries.

He believes nation-state sovereignty is inviolable. He embraces UN Charter and other fundamental rule of law principles.

He opposes interfering in the internal affairs of other nations. He believes no country may attack another except in self-defense - and only if Security Council members authorize it as core international law stipulates.

Obama thrives on endless wars of aggression, violence and instability. He claims a divine right to intervene against other nations at his discretion - politically, economically and militarily.
