On the anniversary of Lincoln's assassination on April 14,1865,150 years ago, I pause to reflect on this giant of a man and 16th President who represents all the moral qualities we would hope our current Presidents embody ~ and yet we remain so bitterly disappointed when few if any of these Presidential pretenders can approach the moral timbre of our greatest president.
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Abraham Lincoln is still a symbol of the best of America and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin in 2008 listed the ten qualities that made Lincoln such a great leader as well as the qualities we should look for in our present leaders.

UN officials appealed for an immediate $274 million in desperately needed emergency humanitarian aid for Yemenis.
Saudi mass murderer/King Salman offered to contribute the entire amount - while he continues daily terror-bombing, targeting civilians and exacerbating a horrific humanitarian crisis.
Billions of dollars in aid are needed to address it. A small fraction of it barely scratches the surface.
Saudi oil wealth won't restore lost lives. It won't replace lost limbs. It won't soothe traumatized children.
It won't erase the agony of lost loved ones. It won't stop US planned, orchestrated and directed Saudi-led aggression.

Saudis are some of the world's most ruthless figures. They rule with an iron fist.
They tolerate no opposition. They partner with Washington's regional wars.
They were caught red-handed supplying Syrian takfiris with chemical weapons - used against defenseless civilians.
They're at it again. Overnight reports indicate they attacked Yemen's Saada province with banned chemical agents.
Toxic gas left scores of Yemeni civilians dead or injured. The exact number isn't known so far.
Witnesses and aid workers said white smoke rose from Saudi terror-bombing. Injured victims experienced suffocation, nausea and diarrhea.

Yemen is in the eye of the storm. Washington planned and orchestrated ongoing war on an entire population.
Its using Saudi Arabia, other regional rogue states, and extremist takfiri mercenaries to do its killing and dying.
It's systematically destroying an entire nation to tighten its regional chokehold.
Will millions of Yemenis die, sustain disabling injuries and/or lose all future hope before things end?
No nation in world history caused more harm to more people over a longer duration than America.
None operate more ruthlessly. None more callously ignore human lives and welfare.

Times editors are so consistently hostile to Iran in their one-sided support for Israel's worst crimes it's surprising they gave Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif op-ed space.
He sent a responsible message from Iran everyone needs to read. He indicated important progress in Lausanne in trying to resolve issues over Tehran's well-known peaceful nuclear program.
Suggesting otherwise is red herring cover for Washington's real objectives:

A Gallup poll issued on April 13th headlines “Americans Choose the Environment Over Energy Development,” and on April 9th another report from Gallup was titled “About Half in U.S. Say Environmental Protection Falls Short.” The bottom-line from both findings is that "the U.S. government" isn’t doing enough to protect the environment but is doing too much to boost energy-production. Republicans feel the exact opposite way, on both matters. Among the total American public, 48% say that the federal government is doing “too little … in terms of protecting the envirionment”; 34% say that it’s doing “the right amount”; and only 16% say that it’s doing “too much.” So, clearly, the public greatly favors increased envifonmental protection by “the U.S. government.” However, whereas 64% of Democrats feel that the government is doing “too little,” only 39% of Republicans do; and so, the partisan divide on this issue is stark.

The coronation of the imperious Hillary Clinton is now officially underway with Hillary's declaration today but she brings with her candidacy much baggage ~ which includes her chief advisor and former president Bill Clinton. Hillary's announced low key campaign cannot hide the fact that she is already a high risk lightening rod, obviously in bed with the global elite and Wall Street and seemingly out of touch with an increasingly impatient and skeptical progressive base: Allen L Roland, Ph.D
“Those of us who follow politics seriously rather than view it as a game show do not look at Hillary Clinton and simply think 'first woman president.' We think ~ for example ~ 'first ex-co-president' or 'first wife of a disbarred lawyer and impeached former incumbent' or 'first person to use her daughter as photo-op protection during her husband's perjury rap.”
I distinctly remember shaking hands with Hillary Clinton on the stage of Glide Church in San Francisco after a performance of the Glide Ensemble, where I was a lead base, and moments after her brief campaign talk many years ago ~ I was stuck by her imperious manner at that time and her cold calculating smile as well as insulating eyes which almost betrayed an angry and betrayed spirit within.

Congressional passage of so-called "trade promotion authority" (TPA) will let Obama expedite the legislative process for pending Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) bills.
The Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015 (TPA 2015) lets Obama and his trade representative, complicit with corporate predators, rush through Congress, with minimal hearings and no amendments, legislation global justice advocates call NAFTA on steroids.
TPP and TTIP are trade bills from hell. They're stealth corporate coup d'etats.

Throughout years of Obama's war on Syria, President Bashar al-Assad was falsely accused of using chemical weapons (CWs) numerous times.
No corroborating evidence whatever indicates Syrian forces used them in any form any time.
Clear evidence shows IS, Nusra Front and other anti-Syrian elements used them them against defenseless civilians - including toxic agents Saudi Arabia supplied. Anti-Syrian propaganda is relentless. Assad repeatedly faces false accusations.

People see their own nation, and foreign nations, through the filter of the press that’s available to them; so, if that filter is systematically distorting (distorting in ways that most of the others similarly do), then democracy cannot function, public opinion can be manipulated and warped; and wars might even start that shouldn’t — something Americans have tragically been experiencing lots of, during recent decades, such as when we invaded Iraq in 2003 (just to cite the most famous of many examples).
A typical Reuters ‘news’ report will be examined here, in order to determine how high the journalistic standards of the Reuters ‘news’ organization actually are. Reuters is an internationally respected ‘news’ organization, as reliable as any major ‘news’ organization in the U.S. and Europe — thus, it’s a good source to provide a case-example.
