US False Flag Pretext for War on Syria

April 29th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

Obama abhors peace. He prioritizes war. His appetite exceeds his predecessors and then some. It's insatiable.

He's currently waging multiple direct and proxy wars. He plans more in Africa. He destroyed Libya. He's ravaging Syria.

Israel's War on Fishing Rights

April 29th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

Israel wages war on humanity. It persecutes Palestinians many ways. It does so with impunity.

Collective punishment is prohibited. Fourth Geneva's Article 33 states:

"No protected person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited."

Chemical Weapons Charade in Syria

April 29th, 2013

By Sharmine Narwani

"Al-Akhbar",- Let us be clear. The United States can verify absolutely nothing about the use of chemical weapons (CWs) in Syria. Any suggestion to the contrary is entirely false. Don’t take it from me – here is what US officials have to say about the subject:

A mere 24 hours after Washington heavyweights from the White House, Pentagon, and State Department brushed aside Israeli allegations of chemical weapons use in Syria, US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and the White House changed their minds. They now believe “with varying degrees of confidence” that CWs have been used “on a small scale” inside Syria.

Time for a Department of Peace

April 29th, 2013

By David Swanson

I'm honored to have accepted the position of Secretary of Peace in the newly formed Green Shadow Cabinet. Of course, I cannot contrast my positions with those of the actual Secretary of Peace, as the United States has no such position. There is a Secretary of War, although that title was changed to Secretary of Defense 66 years ago. It was changed the same year George Orwell wrote his masterpiece, 1984, in which he suggested that language is sometimes used as a disguise. In fact, ever since the War Department became the Defense Department, its business has had less than ever to do with defense and more than ever to do with promoting the use of war-making as an instrument of national policy. President Dwight Eisenhower observed and warned of this worsening situation 52 years ago in one of the most prescient but least heeded (even by Eisenhower) warnings since Cassandra told the Trojans to be wary of giant horses.

LaRouche on the Charge Assad Used Chemical Weapons: "Obviously, John McCain Is Not What He Once Was"

April 28th, 2013

Larouche Pac

The release of a letter from the Obama White House, solicited by Senators John McCain and Carl Levin of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has put the United States a huge step further on the course toward launching an illegal war against Syria, on the concocted excuse the Assad regime has used chemical weapons against its people. Such a war would play right into the British Empire's intention of setting off a broader World War III, up to and including thermonuclear confrontation of the United States with Russia and China, In the wake of the release, Senator McCain immediately hit the airwaves to brandish the letter, claiming that Obama's "red line" had been crossed, and the U.S. must immediately take military action.

America's Addiction: Waging War on Humanity

April 28th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

America's business is war. Permanent wars reflect official US policy. They're glorified in the name of peace. One nation after another is ravaged. Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel called it being "cold-blooded about the self-interests of your nation." Obama's the latest US warrior president. Imperial lawlessness defines his agenda. Out-of-control militarism rages. Humanity's survival is threatened.

Syria is Obama's war. Direct intervention looms. Claims about Syria using chemical weapons don't wash. Syrian officials categorically deny them.

On April 27, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) headlined "Information Minister: Western Sides Are Directly Responsible for Chemical Weapons Use in Khan al-Assal," saying:

Omran al-Zoubi said chemical weapons likely came from Turkey. "The US-British and Western allegations in general on this issue do not have any credibility."

A missile targeting Khan al-Assal came from a terrorist-controlled location. Syria requested an investigation. According to SANA:

Zionists and Gulf Monarchs Ponder…. Pushing Al Qaeda to Take on Hezbollah

April 28th, 2013

“This is one damn fine idea, what took us so long to see a simple solution that was right in front of our eyes for Christ’s sake”, Senator John McCain of “Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” and “no-fly zones for Syria” notoriety, reportedly demanded to know from Dennis Ross during a recent Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP) brain storming session in Washington DC.

Ross, a founder of WINEP with Israeli government start up cash (presumably reimbursed unknowingly by American taxpayers) and currently WINEP's “Counselor”, reportedly responded to the idea of facilitating Al Qeada to wage jihad against Hezbollah with the comment: “Shiites aren’t the only ones seeking death to demonstrate their ‘resistance’ to whatever. Plenty of other Muslims also want to die as we saw last week in Boston. Let ‘em all go at it and Israel can sweep out their s--- when it’s over.”

Evaluating The Grim And Finding Viable Solutions

April 28th, 2013

By Vincent L. Guarisco

"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." ~~Sun-tzu

I know it has not been easy all these years enduring the many dramatic events and horrific imbalances thrust upon us at home and abroad. There's no denying that our nation is undergoing tremendous changes (almost daily) in how we navigate through this mess. Regardless, we must dig in for the long haul; we must remain calm and open-minded. So, let's take a deep breath, take a step back, clear our heads, evaluate the situation and wise-up for the greater good of everyone involved.

I wish I had a magical etch-a-sketch board that can systematically erase all the evil that constantly rocks our world, but unfortunately, I do not. I can't do it alone, but together... we can clean the slate and level mountains! It is what it is, and -- unless we change course -- that sharp Orwellian sword will keep stabbing us in the back at every twist and turn, pushing us down the multinational gangplank (over the edge) until the sinister ones control every single aspect of our lives.

Obamacare: Unaffordable Coverage

April 28th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) co-founders Steffie Woolhandler and David Himmelstein examined evidence on "skimpy health insurance among low-income, insured Americans."

A PNHP press release said:

"(E)xtensive data (show) that tens of millions of insured Americans have grossly inadequate coverage."

The underinsurance problem grows. The Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM) approved publication of their analysis.

It's titled "Life or Debt: Underinsurance in America." It'll appear next week. Obama's Affordable Care Act (ACA) increased the problem.

Fukushima's Catastrophic Aftermath Continues

April 28th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

In her book titled "No Immediate Danger: Prognosis for a Radioactive Earth," nuclear power/environmental health expert Rosalie Bertell (1929 - 2012) said:

"Should the public discover the true health cost(s) of nuclear pollution, a cry would rise from all parts of the world and people would refuse to cooperate passively with their own death."

In her article titled "Radioactivity: No Immediate Danger," she coined a new word. "Omnicide" describes the ultimate human rejection of life. It's "difficult to comprehend," but it's happening, she said.

She called industrial radioactive pollution "cumulatively greater than Chernobyl. We are now in a no-win situation with radioactive materials, where (it's) acceptable to have cancer deaths, deformed children and miscarriages."
