Why do we hate the banks so?

October 27th, 2010

By Numerian posted by Michael Collins

"The deadbeat accusation against defaulters says Americans should have known how much debt they were taking on and what the risks were for themselves if disaster should happen to them. The problem with this argument is that millions of Americans did know and did ask about these risks, but were given false assurances, or their concerns were brushed off by the banker. In some cases the banker outright fraudulently changed the consumer’s application when it came time to process the loan for approval. This was not a process where caveat emptor applied, because the buyer was from the start at a disadvantage to the bank. " Numerian

War is War, not Peace- President Obama

October 26th, 2010

Mahboob A. Khawaja, Ph.D.

“It is the policy of the United States government to provoke violent extremist groups into action. Once they are in play, their responses can then be used in whatever way the government that provoked them sees fit. And we also know that these provocations are being used, as a matter of deliberate policy, to rouse violent groups on the "Af-Pak" front to launch terrorist attacks.” - Chris Floyd (“Darkness Renewed: Terror as a Tool of Empire” ICH, 04/2009)

“The hell of human suffering, evil and oppression is paved with good intentions. The men who have most injured and oppressed humanity, who have most deeply sinned against it, were according to their standards and their conscience, good men; what was bad in them, who wrought moral evil and cruelty, treason to truth and progress, was not at all in their intentions, in their purpose, in their personal character, but in their opinions.” - (Robert Briffault, Professor at Cambridge University (The Making of Humanity, London, 1918)

Everyday is Halloween in Empire: The Zombie Apocalypse Of Duopoly

October 26th, 2010

By Phil Rockstroh

Because, at this time of the year, we take pleasure in being frightened, let's shuffle through the US Empire's House of Horrors. On our tour, we cringe before: Brain-eating zombies of exponential destruction; soul-sucking vampires of eternal self-justification; right-wing, talk show demons whose wrathful voices rage into empty air; road-rage werewolves; hungry ghosts shuffling the aisles of supermarkets, convenience stores, corporate restaurant franchises and the food courts of shopping malls; and, running on a continuous video loop, The Fat, Mindless Blob That Ate the Planet. The US mass media is rife with imagery of vampires, werewolves, zombies and other symbols of suppressed rage, insatiable craving and submerged terror. These narratives, resonate with the warnings implicit in nightmares, reveal the culture's tormented soul. By foisting imagery so arresting that it cannot be ignored, nightmares break through the ego's wall of denial; their disturbing imagery can be read as a wakeup call from the psyche that augurs warning and insists upon change.

Will you make the leap of faith? Or will you sink, with the ship?

October 26th, 2010

By: King

As we draw closer to the inevitable, engineered crash of the United States, and ultimately the world, I begin to wonder – will those who understand reality, actually be able to make the leap of faith?

The Ultra-Rich of the United States have already begun their mass exodus from the United States, fully understanding the situation that is about to present itself. Dr. Rima Laibow, the lady who first introduced the implications, of Codex Alimentarius, to the world at large, took off more than a year ago to begin a new life in South America. What do these people understand, that we do not?

Congressional Fleecing the Public Legislation

October 26th, 2010

by Stephen Lendman

On February 23, HR 4646: Debt Free America Act was introduced "To establish a fee on transactions which would eliminate the national debt and replace the income tax on individuals."

Sponsor Representative Chaka Fattah's (D. PA) same day press release said:

The bill offers a "simple new approach to paying off the debt now escalating past" $13.6 trillion as of late October. "The breakthrough legislation proposes a 1 percent fee (on) all payment instruments including cash transactions, checks, credit cards, those processed through the Federal Reserve Bank, and those collected at the point of sale."

Heathens Hold the Line as Californians Reject Corporate Takeover

October 25th, 2010

Michael Collins

The corporate takeover of California is on hold according to the latest polls out of the nation’s largest state. Just nine days before the election, the Los Angeles Times and University of Southern California poll shows a nearly impossible uphill battle for the big business ticket of former eBay CEO Meg Whitman and former HP CEO Carly Fiorina.

Among likely voters in the governor’s race, Brown leads Whitman 50% to 38%. In the race for United States Senator, two term Senator Barbara Boxer maintained an 8% lead. The leads by Democrats come from a brand new constituency, those who "never" go to church. More on that later.

September 11th - The Occult Connection

October 25th, 2010

William Ramsey

On September 11th, 2001, four rogue commercial airplanes flew through the skies of the eastern United States, headed toward high value targets in New York and Washington, D.C. Two of the planes, Flights 11 and 175, struck the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, and within an hour, both massive structures (which should have withstood the impact of each plane) exploded, imploded and collapsed into dust. Flight 77 (or some other aircraft) struck the Pentagon, killing over 200 military personnel. Another commercial airplane, Flight 93, crashed (or was shot down) in the skies above Pennsylvania.

The 9/11 attacks upon the people of the United States, deceptively blamed upon radical Muslims, initiated revolutionary change in the U.S. and the world. The September 11 attacks led to:

If Republicans win

October 25th, 2010

Mary Shaw

I hear from a lot of disillusioned Democrats who are disappointed in the Obama administration and Congress. Their disappointment is understandable. Two years ago, we were seduced by the promise of positive, progressive change. Obama was going to change Washington. Instead, the games in Washington became even more contentious and divisive. And Obama has seemed to lack the strength to effectively stand up to the "Party of No".

Campaign fever two years ago inspired and energized a diverse group of people - young and old, black, white, brown, and yellow - who were fed up with the greed, cruelty, arrogance, and intolerance that marked the Bush administration. They responded by electing an intelligent, thoughtful, articulate, African-American president.

Systemic Washington-Sanctioned Fraud

October 25th, 2010

by Stephen Lendman

It's the American way. More for the rich. Crumbs for the rest, and fraud as a way of life since the republic's beginning, though hardly on today's scale. Perhaps the first prominent example was in 1792, involving former Assistant Treasury Secretary William Duer. Appointed by Alexander Hamilton in 1789, he left a year later to profit from insider trading, or so he hoped.

At the time, US bonds were junk paper. The market for them was volatile, so profiting meant being savvy enough or tipped off in advance to buy or sell ahead of news. As a former Treasury official, Duer had insider information. Using leverage, it paid handsomely for a while until too much money caused a speculative glut, an earlier type bubble that took down much of the New York Stock Exchange when it burst, Duer with it.

Israel is the most immediate threat to the future of the planet: Jeffrey Blankfort

October 25th, 2010

Interview by Kourosh Ziabari

Jeffrey Blankfort is an American photojournalist, radio producer and Middle East analyst. He is a well-known pro-Palestinian activist whose articles and writings have appeared on Counter Punch, Voltairenet, Palestine Think Tank, Dissident Voice and many other publications.

He currently hosts radio programs on KZYX in Mendocino, CA and KPOO in San Francisco. Blankfort was formerly the editor of the Middle East Labor Bulletin and co-founder of the Labor Committee of the Middle East. In February 2002, he won a lawsuit against the Zionist organization Anti-Defamation League (ADL) which was found to have been spying on the American citizens critical of Israel and its expansionistic policies.

Jeffrey joined me in an exclusive interview to discuss the influence of Israeli lobby on the decision-makers of the U.S. government, Israel's illegal, underground nuclear program, the prospect of Israeli – Palestinian conflict and the imminent threat of an Israeli strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.
