Affirming WAR, DISPAIR – Pres Obama's Oslo peace speech

December 13th, 2009

By Carolyn Bennett

U.S. President Barack Obama's speech formally accepting a Nobel Peace Prize was to me an alarming oration.

The "change" president proclaimed aggression and endless war in the world "as it is" - a world he accepts without offer of solution. At Oslo President Obama declared his acceptance of misery - often the result of U.S.-declared wars - as an unchangeable human destiny. In curious language falling unconvincingly from his mouth, the president termed oppression inevitable; war "just" and "necessary," the result of "human folly."

"We are at war," the president echoed his predecessor on page one of the White House transcript of his speech. From there, standing before the Nobel committee that handed him this windfall, he went often in religious nuance to wage and to justify acts of aggression.

The speech topped the alarm raised by his earlier promise to continue killing Afghans and Pakistanis. The Oslo speech unveiled an in-your-face militarist uncaring of the future or of any human being or institution of law domestic or international. It was a commentary dripping with despair for the United States and the world - and most particularly for the people of South/Central Asia (and the Middle East), Americans, society, soldiers and soldiers' families.

In light of the rise of Jewish fundamentalism Arabs are in dire need of a thorough Referendum, the main character, the state of Israel

December 12th, 2009

Salim Nazzal

The disgusting view of the fundamentalist Jewish colonizer driving his car several times over the Palestinian young man Wasim muwasada has invoked extreme rage among Palestinians.

The criminal event is not an isolated event because the “defense” Israeli army was watching the dreadful act without any attempt to hinder it, and also because such crimes have become a normal thing in the Jewish religious culture towards Palestinians. For Palestinians the Zionist Jewish culture of baby killing and extreme brutality is not the act of a fanatic person, but, rather, the product of a culture based on murder and violence. The cultural mind which allowed, justified and instructed the murder of Palestinian children and pregnant woman in Deir Yasin in 1948 is the same cultural mind which permitted the murder Palestinian babies in 2009.

Official Lies about 911 Exposed

December 12th, 2009

Dr. David Ray Griffin

Although John Farmer's "The Ground Truth" has attracted a lot of favorable attention, it is a deeply flawed book, containing misleading claims and providing an extremely one-sided account of 9/11.

Much of the attention received by the book has been prompted by misleading claims made by Farmer and his publisher. The book's dust-jacket calls it the "definitive account" of 9/11, but it actually deals almost entirely with only one question about that day: why the airliners were not intercepted.

Also, the book's subtitle calls it "the untold story" of 9/11 and its dust-jacket says that it "breathtakingly revises" our understanding of that day. In reality, however, it simply provides new support for the story told about the planes in "The 9/11 Commission Report," which appeared in 2004, and in two publications that appeared in 2006: Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton's book "Without Precedent," and Michael Bronner's essay in "Vanity Fair."

Resisting An Underlying Moral Vacuum

December 12th, 2009

By Emily Spence

Overview: Is our species, overall, mentally ill in some way? How could this not be the case when we, continually, have, along with many constructive ones, the same sorts of unconscionable, dysfunctional and destructive behaviors happening again and again through the centuries?

There are moment in life when one, seriously, wonders whether our species, overall, is mentally ill in some underlying ways. Then again, any definitive determination is likely relativistic since it largely depends on the standards that a given society and culture use to define mental illness, it would seem.

OPEN LETTER FROM A CONCERNED VET TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

December 11th, 2009

Allen L Roland

President Obama's national approval poll numbers continue to tumble especially among veterans who increasing feel neglected, betrayed and sold out . Obama's political Afghanistan exit strategy may very well eventually result in his own one term exit:

As our self proclaimed war president, Barack Obama, receives his tainted Nobel Peace Prize today in Oslo, Norway ~ his national approval ratings continue to dramatically tumble. His obvious Nobel anointment by the global elite seemingly legitimizes Obama's illegal wars and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the attacks on Pakistan as necessary Wars for Peace ~ further enslaving the people of those countries and strengthening the ignorance of the public ~ who will now begin to assume, as Orwell predicted, that war is peace.

Rules of human decency apply to Israelis too

December 11th, 2009

Stuart Littlewood

A dose of their own (academic) medicine might help the message sink in.

Poor Berlanty. What did she do to deserve this crushing blow to her hopes and life chances?

The Israeli High Court has denied her justice - again - and prevented Berlanty Azzam returning to Bethlehem University for the final few weeks to complete her degree.

On 28 October this Christian student at the Vatican-sponsored Bethlehem University was abducted by the IDF, "the world's most moral army”, after attending a job interview in Ramalla, then blindfolded and handcuffed and dumped in Gaza. She had lived in the West Bank since 2005 after being granted a permit.

There was only one kind of permit available in 2005 – an entry permit to Israel. But the Israeli State claimed that this permit was insufficient and Berlanty should have obtained some other permit, even though the State admits that none existed at the time.

The Most Important Issue in the History of the Universe

December 11th, 2009

By Robert Singer

My goal in writing is to help wake up the huddled masses. To that end, the "Most Important Issue in the History of the Universe" is:

The Story Behind the Story Behind the Story of how the World Trade Center I and II collapsed on September 11, 2001.

Why? Because if you don't know how the twin towers collapsed, you can’t be sure you are waking up the masses from the right dream.

9/11/01

I’ll get right to the point, I have read the books and watched the documentaries on September 11 for three years and the 9/11 official story is:

Israeli Occupation, Colonialism and Apartheid

December 11th, 2009

by Stephen Lendman

The Cape Town, South Africa-based Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) "conduct(s) large-scale, policy-relevant, social-scientific projects for public-sector users, non-governmental organisations and international development agencies," and disseminates its findings widely.

In May 2009, it issued a damning report titled, "Occupation, Colonialism, Apartheid? A re-assessment of Israel's practices in the occupied Palestinian territories under international law." At the time John Dugard was the UN's Special Human Rights Rapporteur for Occupied Palestine. At his January 2007 suggestion, the study was undertaken "to scrutinise (his) hypothesis from the perspective of international law."

Ass kissing liberal apologists' for failed health reform

December 11th, 2009

Michael Collins

The myth that the Democratic plans for health reform will produce anything by the target date of 2014 is only exceeded in absurdity by the myth that the world will end on December 21, 2012.

"New media" pundit Eric Alterman is down on his knees, genuflecting before the graven idol of Democratic Party interests. He wrote a full fledged justification supporting the current idol with feet of clay, the Democratic health care reform effort ongoing in the United States Senate. The article looks like talking points hot off the press from the White House Office of Disinformation since he's giving the president credit for all the good things which have materialized as if by magic in the latest Senate's efforts.

To begin with, he failed to note these very real issues in the health care debate: the immediate need by tens of millions for adequate health care and financial relief from exorbitant prices; the preservation of insurance companies at the center of public health care, companies with no interest in or obligation for the public welfare; and, the gross hypocrisy of the president demanding that health reform not add one penny to the deficit while he spends hundreds of billions for the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq - pure deficit operations with no discernible benefit to citizens.

Open Letter to Steve McIntyre: The 'Highest Order Bit' of Climategate is being ignored by Scientists – WHY?

December 10th, 2009

Zahir Ebrahim | Project Humanbeingsfirst.org

Dear Mr. Steve McIntyre,

Hello,

I would like to begin by thanking you for your good forensic science work, and for your innate commonsense in ab initio sensing what naturally didn't sound right about climate-science's proclamations. But I would also like to express my disappointment that you have stopped a tad short of unraveling the social engineering that lies just behind the thin facade of this mega-funded science of Global Warming. Proving to the mainstream science skeptics that it was fictitious may have been deemed an important first step in unraveling the science of its deception for those of scientific acumen. But stopping there is unforgivable as is the absence of any demonstrated political acumen.

Therefore, I write this provocative open letter to you Mr. McIntyre in the hope of soliciting a response from the 'uber alles' science community who appear to me to be so enamored by their own brilliance to want to pay any attention to the Zen of Climategate. The debate among the learned men and women of science on your website, as on others', as in the mainstream newsmedia when it shows up on rare occasion, and in the hallways of the academe, is entirely concentrated “on the finger pointing away at the moon” instead of looking at the moon, thus missing all that imperial glory of science in the service of empire.
