US Cooperation with Russia on Syria?

September 25th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Washington doesn’t negotiate. It demands. John Kerry saying he’s willing to engage with Russia and Assad on Syria is smoke screen deception. Claiming the need for a political solution belies America’s rage for war.

Washington undermined Geneva I and II talks despite Russia’s best efforts. Longstanding US plans call for regime change.

Days after 9/11, retired General Wesley Clark visited then Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld at the Pentagon "No one will tell us where or when to bomb", he was told. Military commanders said Iraq would be attacked.

On a second visit, Clark was told plans were to "destroy the governments in seven countries,” he explained. Besides ongoing war on Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran would be targeted.

Obama’s Duplicitous Remarks Welcoming Pope Francis

September 25th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

In welcoming the pontiff on the White House south lawn, Obama ignored his earlier disturbing record.

Before becoming Archbishop of Buenos Aires in 1998 and a cardinal in 2001, Jorge Mario Bergoglio (Pope Francis) fully supported Argentina's CIA/Henry Kissinger backed coup, followed by military dictatorship (March 1976 - December 1983) - a brutal period of dirty war (la guerra sucia), much like under Pinochet in Chile for nearly 17 years.

Thousands were disappeared (los desaparecidos), held in detention centers, tortured and killed. Anyone expressing dissent or considered an ideological or political threat was vulnerable.

Facade of Diplomacy Masks Same Old US Latin American Policy

September 24th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Nothing ever changes in Washington except new faces continuing old policies dressed up at times to look different - same old, same old always.

Duopoly power is ruthless, predatory and merciless. Business as usual continues - worse than ever under a so-called “peace” president at war throughout his tenure against more nations than any of his predecessors, destabilizing others globally, pressuring, bullying or bludgeoning independent ones to obey Washington rules or else.

New York Times propaganda wants readers to believe otherwise - the myth of a kinder, gentler America. None exists - not now, earlier or ahead. Hegemons are unbending. They don’t change their stripes - just their strategies and tactics.

Mumia Denied Life-Saving Treatment

September 24th, 2015

By Stephen Lendman

The state of Pennsylvania is slowly murdering longstanding political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal by willful neglect. He’s seriously ill with hepatitus C.

Untreated, it can cause chronic potentially fatal liver disease. Attorneys Bret Grote and Robert J. Boyle representing Mumia say it’s “the underlying cause of his health crisis,” including skin lesions, painful rashes, open wounds and severe swelling.

On August 2, they filed a lawsuit “seek(ing) injunctive relief for prison medical staff’s failure to treat” his active disease.

Syrian Refugees Call Israel Their Main Enemy

September 24th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

If views expressed by some Syrian refugees represent majority sentiment, Israel is the region’s main enemy. According to some polls, it’s the world’s most hated country along with America.

On September 12, Times of Israel contributor Rossella Tercatin said despite their hazardous journey and cruel treatment en route to a Milan, Italy refugee reception center, they “view Israel as their real enemy.”

One arrival named Adman said he respects all races and religions. “(W)e are all brothers, but Israel is the ultimate enemy…But I want to stress, Jews are not my enemy. Zionists are my enemy.”

Why Arab Refugees are Dehumanized at European Borders? Humanitarian Darkness Renewed

September 24th, 2015

Mahboob A Khawaja, PhD.

"It's perverse to treat people fleeing war and persecution as a threat to border security, and any country that follows this example is heading down a dangerous road." Amnesty International

Refugees Not Migrants Look for Humanitarian Compassion

Thousands and thousands of innocent victims of the Western-led wars are fleeing from prevalent deaths and destructions to relatively peaceful Europe. For decades, hopes of peace are dashed away by death and despair across the Arab world. The international institutionalized system of governance was supposed to protect the innocent victims from the scourge of wars. But global institutions are a failure to respond to humanitarian crises.

Jeremy Corbyn and the Jews

September 23rd, 2015

By Gilad Atzmon

The relationship between Jeremy Corbyn and British Jews can be summarized into a brief observation:

While Corbyn’s success represents a hugely popular shift within British political thinking, the orchestrated Jewish campaign against him is there to suggest that once again, Jews set themselves against the people they dwell upon.

The vastly growing popularity of Jeremy Corbyn amongst Brits can be easily explained. Following decades of cultural Marxist, divisive Identiterian politics and Zionist-Neocon domination within the British Left, Corbyn brings along a refreshing ideological alternative. Corbyn seems to re-unite the Brits. He cares for the weak. He opposes interventionist wars. He represents the return of the good old left as opposed to New Labour’s affinity with big money, choseness and exceptionalism. He cares for the students and the youth. He thinks about the future and promises to undo the damage created by Blair and Cameron. But as Britain sees the rise of a hugely popular ideological movement, many Jewish institutions see Corbyn as an arch enemy. They would prefer to see him gone and have used nearly every trick in the book to discredit him.

Propaganda Works: New Polls Show Most Americans Oppose Iran Nuclear Deal

September 23rd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Three recent polls show most Americans oppose what they know little about or what’s potentially at stake. More on this below.

The vast majority of Americans know virtually nothing about Iran, its history, culture, abhorrence of nuclear weapons and war, as well as its outreach to work cooperatively with all nations.

They’re the most over-entertained, uninformed people anywhere - despite easy access to online and other ways to understand major issues touching their lives directly, as well as learn how their government at all levels betrays them.

Palestinian Family Victimized by Immolation Ineligible for Compensation

September 23rd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Dawabsha family survivors aren’t afforded the same rights as Jews. Israel’s Property Tax and Compensation Fund Law (1961) provides monetary payments for property damage caused by terrorism.

Its Victims of Hostile Action Law (1970) provides compensation for bodily injuries suffered from terrorist attacks - as well as payments to family members of deceased victims.

Palestinians don’t qualify, only Jews, another example of a racist state, ignoring the rights of all people it’s obligated to protect.

Business As Usual Triumphs in Greek Election

September 23rd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

It’s all over but the postmortems. Western bankers, large investors and other corporate interests triumphed on Sunday as expected - over fairness, equity and justice.

Greece remains Troika occupied territory, its sovereignty and soul lost, its people assured of greater suffering than already, its economy strip-mined for profit, its deplorable status the future of Europe and America, headed toward becoming thirdworldized ruler-serf societies unfit to live in.

SRYIZA retained power by a larger than expected margin - with nearly all votes counted, achieving a 7.4% margin over New Democracy (35.5% to 28.1%).
