US Dark Forces Stoke Violence and Instability in Latin America

September 11th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

US orchestrated plans to topple Ecuador’s Rafael Correa continue. On August 17, Telesur reported disruptive elements attacked Ecuadorian soldiers and police with live fire. Eleven injuries were reported.

Last week, violence rocked Quito. Dozens of police and several journalists were injured. Correa blasted opposition elements trying to destabilize Ecuador.

“I’ve never seen them so violent, so aggressive,” he said. “Those who used violence will be punished with the full vigor of the law. Ecuarunari (movement of Ecuadorian indigenous people of Kichwa nationality) leader Carlos Perez was videotaped encouraging violence. Attacks on police followed.

It’s time to reopen the American and Iranian embassies and promote reconciliation

September 10th, 2015

Franklin Lamb

At the American Embassy, Tehran

Last month's historic nuclear agreement breakthrough, following nearly two years of grueling, frequently contentious negotiations, manifests the efficacy of diplomacy conducted in an atmosphere of mutual respect to solve shared challenges among states that were formerly enemies.

This achievement, according to Iranian college students from whom this observer has been learning a lot recently while engaging in far reaching discussions in Iran, and the nuclear pacts momentum, leads logically to the next step, which should include opening the Iranian and American embassies. This so our two countries can talk freely and facilitate the work of the queuing trade delegations from both countries eager to discuss business opportunities and countless other benefits, including but not limited to the fact that opening our embassies will facilitate the quick restoration of banks financing of trade deals, restoration of consular passport and other services to the more than one million Iranians living in the US and travel of American to the Islamic republic.

Dick Cheney’s Litany of Lies About the Iran Nuclear Deal

September 10th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

On Tuesday, the former vice president voiced opposition to a done deal. Obama has more than enough Senate support to block passage of a Republican disapproval resolution - by filibuster to prevent a vote or sustaining his veto if one occurs.

Cheney is an unindicted war criminal - a neocon in the worst sense, a serial liar, the leading Bush administration figure behind naked aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq, a sinister evil force as congressman, defense secretary and vice president.

He chose the notoriously hawkish American Enterprise Institute (AEI) as venue for his talk - a neocon think tank with enormous public policy influence, involved in promoting Bush administration’s aggressive wars.

German, Austrian Politicians Show Terrorism, Refugee Crisis Stem from Western-Launched Wars

September 10th, 2015

LaRouchePac

Sept. 7 (EIRNS)-Sahra Wagenknecht and Dietmar Bartsch, deputy parliamentary group leaders of Germany's main (leftist) opposition party, Die Linke, have blamed Western countries for being the main cause of the currentrefugee crisis that Europe is grappling with-its biggest refugee challenge sincethe Second World War. "Western countries under the leadership of the United States have destabilized entire regions by making terrorist organizations, among other things, possible and exploit them.... Anyone who turns the Near and Middle East into a hot spot with wars, drone terror, weapons supplies and conscious destabilization, is to blame for millions of humans having to leave their homeland."

Fabricated Claims About Russian Troops in Syria

September 10th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

We heard the same refrain before. It keeps repeating about nonexistent “Russian aggression” in Ukraine.

Now it’s Syria. On Monday, its Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi called rumors about Russia building up its military presence in his country “fabricated by intelligence agencies of the West and some Arab countries.”

“This hostile campaign is aimed at creating the impression that the Syrian state has become so weak that it has to seek direct military assistance from its friends.”

Western Logic: War Is Peace

September 10th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Stop Nato editor Rick Rozoff posts important “anti-war essays, poems, short stories and literary excerpts” by notable earlier figures from ancient Greece and Rome to modern times.

Their consistent theme is fundamental opposition to war, its carnage and ruthless objectives. Some current postings call “(m)ilitary glory the most mean, the most cruel and contemptible thing under the sun!” (William Black 1881)

“All wars arise for the sake of gaining money.” (Plato) “The highest good is not war but peace.” (Plato) “War’s cannibal priest, druid red from his human sacrifice.” (Walter Scott 1816)

“A shuddering lump of tattered wounds lifted up a mangled head and whined.” (Alfred Noyes 1913) “The bestialization of man by war.” (Polybius)

Elites Want More Refugees: Why?

September 10th, 2015

Robert J. Burrowes

There is much being written about the refugee crisis in Europe at the moment but none of what I have read explains why the problem is occurring and what will need to be done for the problem to be addressed.

Refugees are just one symptom of a deeper crisis. Moreover, like other symptoms of this deeper crisis, the global elite is happy to use this symptom to keep us utterly preoccupied; after all, the immediacy of the refugee problem is all too demanding of our attention and our compassion.

Jeremy Corbyn and the Jews

September 10th, 2015

By Gilad Atzmon

The relationship between Jeremy Corbyn and British Jews can be summarized into a brief observation:

While Corbyn’s success represents a hugely popular shift within British political thinking, the orchestrated Jewish campaign against him is there to suggest that once again, Jews set themselves against the people they dwell upon.

The vastly growing popularity of Jeremy Corbyn amongst Brits can be easily explained. Following decades of cultural Marxist, divisive Identiterian politics and Zionist-Neocon domination within the British Left, Corbyn brings along a refreshing ideological alternative. Corbyn seems to re-unite the Brits. He cares for the weak. He opposes interventionist wars. He represents the return of the good old left as opposed to New Labour’s affinity with big money, choseness and exceptionalism. He cares for the students and the youth. He thinks about the future and promises to undo the damage created by Blair and Cameron. But as Britain sees the rise of a hugely popular ideological movement, many Jewish institutions see Corbyn as an arch enemy. They would prefer to see him gone and have used nearly every trick in the book to discredit him.

US Presidential Aspirants Resemble an FBI Most Wanted List

September 9th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

America is run by a criminal aristocracy - a one-party system with two wings, serving monied interests exclusively at the expense of beneficial social change.

Their agenda no matter who’s president or heading key congressional committees features:

an obsession with national security at a time America’s only enemies are ones it invents;

U.S. Has Now Retrospectively Joined Fascist Side in WW II

September 9th, 2015

Eric Zuesse,
originally posted atstrategic-culture.org

At a commemorative celebration in Beijing on Thursday September 3rd, marking the 70th Anniversary of China’s freedom from the aggressor Japan ending World War II in China, the United States conspicuously avoided siding with its former WW II ally China, which had been one of the pro-democracy Allies during that war, and instead retrospectively switched sides, to the former fascist Axis powers, Japan itself, and also Germany.

International diplomacy is heavily focused upon historical symbolism, something which everyone who is involved in international diplomacy understands. International diplomacy is constantly about history, and about the making of history; this is the very nature of that profession; and the historical symbolism in this particular diplomatic event was clear: the U.S. has retrospectively left the anti-fascist Allied side, and switched to the fascist Axis side; the U.S. now identifies with WW II’s Axis nations — the aggressors. The U.S. no longer identifies with the side of the nations that were being aggressed against.
