Israel’s Genocidal War on Palestine Rages

August 7th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Longstanding Israeli policy calls for maximum Jews and minimum

Arabs - ideally eliminating them altogether by ethnic cleansing and slow-motion genocide.

Netanyahu and likeminded fascists are the leading exponents of extremist racism - much like Hitler’s final solution for an ethnically pure Aryan state cleansed of its unwanted people.

Israel wants a region of balkanized mini-states too impotent to contest its hegemonic dominance, partnered with America’s presence. Daily events reveal Zionist viciousness. Most are largely ignored - especially in the West. On Sunday, Israeli soldiers kidnapped 21-year-old Majdi Al-Muhtaseb, beat him for no reason, and forced him to drink gasoline.

Proposed Arab Resolution to Monitor Israeli Nuclear Facilities

August 7th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

On August 3, Haaretz reported on a resolution proposed by Egypt and other regional states to monitor Israeli nuclear sites - to be voted on at the IAEA’s mid-September general conference.

The nonbinding resolution titled “Israeli nuclear capabilities” was introduced several times earlier without success. “It condemns Israel, demands that it open its reported nuclear facilities to IAEA inspection, and calls for an international conference on making the Middle East a nuclear-weapons-free zone,” said Haaretz. It cited an unnamed senior Israeli Foreign Ministry official saying it’ll be harder to defeat it this time following the Iran nuclear deal.

The MH17 Pilot's Corpse: More on the Cover-Up Even His Family Was Blocked from It. Here’s Why.

August 7th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

It might be the decisive piece of evidence proving who and what and how and why the MH17 Malaysian airliner over the conflict zone in Ukraine on 17 July 2014 was shot down, but the pilot’s corpse has been hidden even from the people who have the most right to see it.

The corpse of the pilot of the MH17 Malaysian airliner might contain in it bullets, or bullet-residues, that can prove a Ukrainian military jet intentionally fired into the pilot; or else it might contain only missile-shrapnel, which would be consistent only with the plane’s having been erroneously shot down by a ground-based missile such as the Ukrainian government says it was; but the Malaysian government has prohibited anyone to see it — not even his relatives, who are still trying to find out how and who murdered their loved-one and the 297 other people who were aboard that tragic plane on July 17th of 2014.

Scott Walker’s Big Lie

August 7th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

I have written lots of articles about Barack Obama’s lying. To expose lies by Republicans is not at all a partisan matter for me; it’s about my only commitment, which is to the truth; and here is the truth about Scott Walker: Like Obama, he’s a liar; he plays the public for suckers, in order to get their votes. This isn’t democracy, serving the public; it’s theft of power away from the public, by means of fraud.

Walker’s main claim to fame regarding his record as Wisconsin’s Governor (inaugurated 3 January 2011) is that he improved education, as shown by his state’s ACT test scores being now the second-highest in the nation, and by their having risen since he became Governor; and both of those statements are lies. Typical examples of him asserting these cardinal lies about Wisconsin’s educational performance are here:

his State of the State address on Jan. 13, 2015:

U.S. Propaganda: It’s Not Just False, but Absurd.

August 6th, 2015

By Eric Zuesse, as originally published at strategic-culture.org.

It’s so ridiculous, no intelligent and informed person would give it any serious consideration whatsoever. It insults the public’s intelligence.

Here’s a typical example of the ridiculousness of U.S. propaganda: On July 16th, the U.S. State Department issued a “Ukraine Travel Warning.” It says:

The Department of State warns U.S. citizens to defer all travel to Crimea and the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, and recommends those U.S. citizens currently living in or visiting these regions to depart. ...

Russia-backed separatists continue to control areas in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. Despite the signing of a ceasefire agreement by representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE, violent clashes between combined Russian separatist forces and Ukrainian forces continue in parts of the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, resulting in thousands of injuries and deaths. The ceasefire agreement established a de facto dividing line between Ukrainian government-controlled and separatist-held areas of Ukraine, with numerous checkpoints controlled by government and separatist forces. Individuals, including U.S. citizens, have been threatened, detained or kidnapped for hours or days after being stopped at separatist checkpoints. ...

US Supports Egyptian Tyranny

August 6th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Egypt’s ruling junta is an illegitimate coup d’etat fascist dictatorship. In June, Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused its self-anointed strongman General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi (a US War College graduate) of “flagrant abuse(s) of human rights since” seizing power in July 2013 by brute force and rigging an election a year later to become president.

Rule is by violence and intimidation. No regime opposition is tolerated. An estimated 50,000 political prisoners languish in gulag hell. Many others were disappeared, murdered or sentenced to death by hanging judges. Many die in police custody. Others are tortured to death in prison. No justice whatever exists.

SOUTH SUDAN: NOTHING BUT VIOLENCE

August 6th, 2015

BY: SUFYAN BIN UZAYR

Four years have passed since South Sudan seceded from Sudan, and the only thing it has earned so far is violence and internal crisis that seems to have no end in sight. The international community has stood by South Sudan’s side, but the new country has repeatedly let everyone down.

The ongoing violence and civil war in South Sudan has killed and displaced millions of innocent civilians. This young country, carved forcibly out of Africa’s largest nation (erstwhile undivided Sudan), is a living example of a failed state.

But that is not all: recently, South Sudan decided to expel UN officials from its territory, out of fear that cases of human rights violations might reach the rest of the world. Calls to reconsider the decision went unheard, and the United Nations Security Council was forced to impose travel bans and sanctions in response.

The Issue At Hand

One might wonder: why has South Sudan failed to get its act together?

U.S. Tries to Stir Ethnic Division in Crimea

August 6th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

On Saturday, August 1st, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko (who now acknowledges that his government is illegitimate and that his predecessor Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown in a February 2014 coup), sent greetings to an international conference of supporters of Tatars in Crimea, at the Second World Congress of the Crimean Tatars. He charged the current Crimean government (the government that Crimeans elected on 16 March 2014, rejoining Russia) of discriminating against Tatars. His message attacked the "torn imperial policies of the Kremlin,” and the “temporary occupation of Crimea by Russia.” He said that, “The Crimean Tatar people are again experiencing terror, and tens of thousands are thus forced to flee.” He thanked America’s Sunni ally Turkey for hosting this conference of pro-Saudi, Sunni Muslim, Crimeans.

The 70th Anniversary of the Bombing of Nagasaki: Unwelcome Truths for Church and State

August 6th, 2015

By Gary G. Kohls, MD

“An irradiated crucifix lies in the ruins of the Urakami Cathedral Following the Atomic Bombing of Nagasaki”

70 years ago (August 9, 1945) an all-Christian bomber crew dropped a plutonium bomb over Nagasaki City, Japan, instantly vaporizing, incinerating or otherwise annihilating tens of thousands of innocent civilians, a disproportionately large number of them Japanese Christians. The explosion mortally wounded uncountable thousands of other victims who succumbed to the blast, the intense heat and/or the radiation.

In 1945, the US was regarded as the most Christian nation in the world (that is, if you can label as truly Christian a nation whose churches are proponents of eye-for-an-eye retaliation, are supportive of America’s military and economic exploitation of other nations or otherwise fail to sincerely teach or adhere to the ethics of Jesus as taught in the Sermon on the Mount).

Ironically, prior to the bomb exploding nearly directly over the Urakami Cathedral at 11:02 AM, Nagasaki was the most Christian city in Japan, and the massive cathedral was the largest Christian church in the Orient.

Jimmy Carter Is Correct that the U.S. Is No Longer a Democracy

August 6th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

On July 28th, Thom Hartmann interviewed former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and, at the very end of his show (as if this massive question were merely an aftethought), asked him his opinion of the 2010 Citizens United decision and the 2014 McCutcheon decision, both decisions by the five Republican judges on the U.S. Supreme Court. These two historic decisions enable unlimited secret money (including foreign money) now to pour into U.S. political and judicial campaigns. Carter answered:

“It violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for President or being elected President. And the same thing applies to governors, and U.S. Senators and congress members. So, now we’ve just seen a subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect, and sometimes get, favors for themselves after the election is over. … At the present time the incumbents, Democrats and Republicans, look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves. Somebody that is already in Congress has a great deal more to sell.”
