Blowback Against Israeli State Terror

January 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Israel claims a divine right to attack any nation, group or individual it chooses with impunity. Considers naked aggression self-defense.

Justifiable self-defense is called terrorism. On January 18, Israeli helicopter gunship fire killed Hezbollah military leader Imad Mughniyeh in Syria's Quneitra province.

Located in Golan's demilitarized zone. The site of heavy clashes between Syrian forces and Takfiri terrorists.

Mughniyeh and five other Hezbollah fighters were killed. Plus six Iranians. Including General Mohammed Allahdaddi.

Human Rights Groups Condemn Israeli Gaza War Crimes

January 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Israel's Operation Protective Edge (OPE) was cold, calculated, premeditated naked aggression against 1.8 million Gazans. Previous articles explained in detail. It had nothing to do with Hamas rockets. Everything to do with preventing Palestinian self-determination.

Maintaining occupation harshness. Continuing settlement construction on stolen Palestinian land. Keeping beleaguered Gazans besieged. Sabotaging Fatah/Hamas unity. Preventing diaspora Palestinians from returning.

Having Jerusalem as Israel's exclusive capital. Denying Palestinians all international law guaranteed rights. Continuing to treat them as subhumans.

Why Do We Fear Love?

January 29th, 2015

Robert J. Burrowes

Why do human beings fear love? That is, why do we fear loving ourselves and others, and why do we fear being fully loved ourselves?

If someone does not receive what they need emotionally as a child, their capacity to give will be limited accordingly. The less of what they need they actually get, the less they will be able to give (and the more they will take for themselves without consideration for others). In order to give, one must have experienced receiving during childhood. If we do not experience love in a way that is truly meaningful, then we will never be able to love ourselves. And if we do not love ourselves, we cannot truly love another.

So what does loving really mean? To me, love means to feel a deep and abiding commitment to nurture the full evolutionary potential in someone, whether ourselves or another. Love might have other elements in particular contexts, such as in a sexual relationship or between a parent and a child, but its most genuine manifestation is its desire to nurture.

Fake Russian Spy Ring Announced

January 29th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Evgeny Buryakov, aka Zhenya

Rogue states need enemies to advance their agendas. When none exist they're invented. Longstanding US policy.

Russian national Evgeny Buryakov its latest victim. A Russian bank employee arrested in New York on phony espionage charges.

Two other Russian nationals named. Outgoing US Attorney General Eric Holder announced bogus charges.

A Department of Justice statement naming "Evgeny Buryakov, aka Zhenya,' Igor Sporyshev and Victor Podobnyy in connection with Buryakov's service as a covert intelligence agent on behalf of the Russian Federation (Russia) in New York City, without notifying the US Attorney General of Buryakov's status as an agent of Russia, as required by federal law."

Russia Counters US Big Lies with Hard Truths

January 28th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

US Big Lies proliferate with disturbing regularity. Obama is a notorious serial liar. His January 20 State of the Union address the latest example.

A previous article said it combined demagogic rubbish, duplicitous boilerplate, pure fantasy, colossal arrogance, and a contemptible assertion of US supremacy.

Boastful empty rhetoric substitutes for responsible leadership. Obama's legacy reflects permanent wars on humanity at home and abroad.

More murders by drones than all his predecessors combined. Death squad diplomacy worldwide.

Policies benefitting monied interests only. Force-fed austerity during harder than ever hard times since the Great Depression.

Overall unprecedented abuse of power. Obama calls it leading "with persistent, steady resolve."

Ukraine’s Government Is Losing Its War. Here Is Why:

January 28th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

On January 27th, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense headlined “Militants Continue to Suffer Losses,” and reported that four helicopters, and other weapons of the “militants,” were destroyed in battle, but no evidence was given to support the assertion.

Just two days prior, the (also pro-Government) Kiev Post had, in fact, bannered “Ukraine Hides Devastating Losses as Russia-Backed Fighters Surge Forward,” and reported “Ukraine’s worst-kept secret — that the Ukrainian army is drastically understating its casualties. After detailing, there, what seems to be outrageous unconcern by the Government, for the welfare of troops it’s sending into battle (even by jamming battlefield-injured soldiers into regular civilian hospitals, which aren’t equipped to handle their injuries), this report ends with a doctor saying, “It’s bad everywhere. Yes, the soldiers are still standing at their positions ready to fight. But we don’t see any help coming for them.”

Peace or War: Global Political Quagmire

January 28th, 2015

Mahboob A. Khawaja, PhD.

There's no question that this "war" will continue indefinitely. There is no question that US actions are the cause of that, the gasoline that fuels the fire. The only question - and it's becoming less of a question for me all the time - is whether this endless war is the intended result of US actions or just an unwanted miscalculation. Why would anyone in the US government or its owners have any interest in putting an end to this sham bonanza of power and profit called "the war on terror"? ….They're preparing for more endless war; their actions are fueling that war; and they continue to reap untold benefits from its continuation. Glenn Greenwald (“The 'War on Terror' - by Design - Can Never End.” The Guardian: 1/4/2013).

United Against Galloway

January 28th, 2015

By Gilad Atzmon

The BBC is under attack yet again by some Jewish ‘community leaders’ and their caretakers within British politics. This time the British broadcast dared to invite a British MP to participate in the primetime TV show, Question Time. The Ultra Zionist Jewish Chronicle reports today: “The BBC has been attacked for its decision to invite anti-Israel MP George Galloway to appear on a Question Time panel in Finchley, north-west London.”

Apparently, Mr. Galloway, renown for his sharp criticism of Israel, will be part of the program filmed in the parliamentary constituency with the country’s largest Jewish population next week.

Where is the West's outrage at the bloodbath in Egypt?

January 27th, 2015

By Khalid Amayreh in occupied Palestine

I haven't been surprised a bit by the ignominious deafening silence of most Western capitals at the latest bloodbath in the streets of Egypt.

There, mostly ignorant and impoverished police conscripts were ordered to open fire rather indiscriminately on peaceful protesters marking the fourth anniversary of the 25 January-2011 uprising. For its part, the Western backed regime struggled to concoct all sorts of mendacious claims to justify the wanton killings. As of today, we haven't seen any credible reaction even remotely resembling the vacuous but huge "party" following the terrorist attacks in Paris a few weeks ago.
