America's War on Palestine

December 29th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

America one-sidedly supports Israel. Both countries partner in each other's crimes. United against Palestinian statehood.

Determined to keep 4.5 million Palestinians subjugated. Hostages on their own land in their own country.

Under militarized occupation rule. Afforded no rights whatever. Congressional members demand Obama veto Palestine's Security Council statehood resolution.

On December 18, Senators Lindsey Graham (R. SC) and Chuck Schumer (D. NY) addressed John Kerry by letter.

Urging him to veto Palestine's statehood bid. Saying:

"We write to express concern about ongoing efforts to impose the terms of a peace agreement on our friend and ally Israel outside of direct negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians."

Nicht to War in Europe

December 28th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

At risk is US-led NATO war on Russia. Lunatics influencing policy in Washington make the unthinkable possible.

On December 5, over 60 prominent Germans argued against war in Europe in their names. Madness if happens.

Expressing their views in Zeit Online. Translated from the German text. More on this below.

On December 27, RT International headlined "Russia's new military doctrine lists NATO, US as major foreign threats." For good reason. Given Washington and rogue EU partners' irresponsible Russia bashing.

Putin approved Moscow's new doctrine. Reflecting new national security threats. Its core policy remains unchanged.

NPR Propagandizes Against Putin, for Regime-Change in Russia

December 28th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

On Friday, December 26th, National Public Radio aired two superbly done pieces of anti-Russia propaganda, which could as well have been written by the U.S. CIA, or by Voice of America, it was so skillfully deceiving.

One of these propaganda-pieces, on “Morning Edition,” presented Eleanor Beardsley alleging that the anti-immigrant political parties in Britain and France are anti-U.S. and pro-Russian because they are supposedly all “far right”; and the other piece, on “All Things Considered,” presented Corey Flintoff alleging that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin “seized Crimea” (as if he hadn’t actually rescued it) and thereby caused U.S. President Barack Obama and the EU to respond with economic sanctions as punishment for the ‘seizure” (actually, as we’ll show, rescue).

War on Black America

December 28th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Black Americans are in the eye of the storm. Militarized cops target them nationwide.

According to Operation Ghetto Storm, police, security guards, and other self-appointed enforcers kill black youths and adults on average every 28 hours.

"(S)tate-sanctioned killings." Casualties of war. Ongoing daily against black Americans. Compounded by other systemic abuses.

Including judicial unfairness. Get tough on crime policies. Mandatory minimum sentences. Guilty unless proved innocent. Three strikes and you're out.

Racist drug laws. Stop-and-frisk. Driving while black. Filling the world's largest gulag. Mostly with people of color.

Blacks most vulnerable of all. Getting longer sentences. More likely to receive capital punishment. Virtually never afforded justice.

A Holiday Season Message

December 28th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Stephen Lendman

Borrowing a line from Dickens, 2014 was the best and worst of times. Multiple illnesses slowed me down. Stopped me for a while. At age 80, the flesh doesn't always respond to the spirit's willingness. Or as easily as years earlier. When healthy, I manage to do what I love best.

Daily articles. Media work. Another book or two ahead. This year my 4th. Hopefully not my last.

My edited and contributed to book on Ukraine. Titled "Flashpoint in Ukraine: How the US Drive for Hegemony Risks WW III."

The definitive work on the topic, I believe. Because of the distinguished contributors. An honor for me to include my content with theirs.

Ukraine a topic I revisit regularly. Because of its importance. A tinderbox in Europe's heartland. US-installed fascists in charge.

New York Times: Enemy of Truth

December 28th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

The Times is America's leading establishment publication. Its longstanding history is unprincipled.

Supporting wealth, power and privilege. At the expense of populist interests.

Functioning as a quasi-official propaganda ministry. Offering a daily diet of managed news misinformation rubbish. On issues mattering most.

It bears repeating what other articles stressed. All the new it claims fit to print isn't fit to read.

No nation in world history committed more high crimes against humanity than America. The Times supports its worst policies.

Ignoring rule of law principles. Supporting might over right. When America goes to war or plans one, it marches in lockstep.

When sitting governments are opposed, it vilifies them supportively. Backing numerous ruthless regimes Washington supports. Including ones installed by rigged elections, coups or US wars.

Throughout his tenure, The Times vilified Hugo Chavez. After his 1998 election, its Latin American correspondent, Larry Roher, lied calling him a "populist demagogue. (A)n authoritarian. (A) caudillo (strongman)."

Ukraine’s Government Is Starving Residents of the Breakaway Region

December 27th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

Amnesty International has found that “the already desperate situation in eastern Ukraine is being made even worse by” so-called ‘volunteer’ or mercenary forces for the Ukrainian Government, which are blocking the supply of food to residents in that region, and trying to starve them to death.

Thus, “The region is facing a humanitarian disaster with many already at risk of starvation,” said Denis Krivosheev, acting Director of Europe and Central Asia for Amnesty International, on Wed., December 24th.

Amnesty International reports that, “Over half of the population in these areas are now entirely dependent on food aid.”

Israeli Good Tidings for Palestinians

December 27th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Israel holds around 4.5 million Palestinians hostage on their own land in their own country. Under military rule. Affording them no rights whatever.

Especially 1.8 million besieged Gazans. Trapped in the world's largest open-air prison. Another 1.7 million Israeli Arab citizens treated like enemies of the state.

No signs of change whatever exist. Occupation harshness continues. Palestinian self-determination remains as distant as ever.

Besieged Gaza lies in ruins. Gisha Legal Center for Freedom of Movement executive director Eitan Diamond reports a dire picture, saying:

"The tragic story of Gaza began before the latest hostilities, but the situation has become more dire as a consequence of the destruction caused by the hostilities."

Yanukovych Proposes Solution to Ukraine’s Civil War; It Fits Obama’s Plan

December 27th, 2014

Commentary by Eric Zuesse

The Ukrainian President whom U.S. President Obama overthrew in a violent coup this past February is now proposing that “people will be able to negotiate and Ukraine will once again be united.”

The former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, in a lengthy interview published on Christmas Eve day in Russia’s weekly newspaper, “Arguments and Facts,” says this after having asserted in the very same statement, "Ordinary Ukrainians from the west and east have nothing to share.”
