Fascism's Willing Co-Conspirators

May 9th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Western media scoundrels mock legitimacy. They march in lockstep with lawless US policy.

They misinform readers and viewers. They spurn truth and full disclosure. They proliferate Big Lies.

They violate core journalistic ethics doing so. They shame themselves in the process.

Ukraine is in the eye of the storm. Managed news misinformation persists daily. Irresponsible Russia bashing is featured.

Truth is twisted to fit US imperial policy. It's turned on its head. It's pure garbage. It doesn't matter. It's featured daily.

Kiev Plans False Flag Against Russia

May 9th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Intense Russia bashing persists daily. It's official US policy. Resolving Ukraine's crisis diplomatically is systematically prevented.

Media scoundrels march in lockstep with what demands condemnation. Stoking conflict is prioritized. Russia is irresponsibly blamed for US-orchestrated Kiev crimes.

Orders come from straight from Washington. Coup-appointed putschists salute and obey.

On May 6, Voice of Russia (VOR) headlined "Ukrainian forces prepare provocation against Russia in Donetsk."

Hot War with Russia - The Saker

May 8th, 2014

Michael Collins
theendWhat's the likelihood of a shooting war with Russia over Ukraine? What are the military realities that the U.S. and it's NATO collaborators see when they consider a real war in behalf of their proxy government in Ukraine? Leading edge blogger, The Saker, provides an extended analysis that answers these questions convincingly. Along with George Eliason's superb analysis, The Saker is taking citizen journalism to new heights. (Image: Thomas Williams)

A short time before The Saker's post, we got a bit of good news. The official propaganda organ of corporate America, Associated Press, ran this headline at 12:38 PM PDT - AP: Ignoring Putin, Ukraine Insurgents to Hold Vote. It doesn't take much to read these tea leaves. Putin is being let off the hook as the evil genius behind the people of Eastern Ukraine. After a little bit of corporate media rehab, Obama will be able to accept Putin's ongoing offer to negotiate a reasonable ending to the mess that they created (unless the neocons sabotage it).

The Kiev Putsch: Rebel Workers Take Power in the East

May 8th, 2014

James Petras

Introduction

Not since the US and EU took over Eastern Europe, including the Baltic countries, East Germany, Poland and the Balkans and converted them into military outposts of NATO and economic vassals, have the Western powers moved so aggressively to seize a strategic country, such as the Ukraine, posing an existential threat to Russia.

Up until 2013 the Ukraine was a ‘buffer state’, basically a non-aligned country, with economic ties to both the EU and Russia. Ruled by a regime closely tied to local, European, Israeli and Russian based oligarchs, the political elite was a product of a political upheaval in 2004, (the so-called “Orange Revolution”) funded by the US. Subsequently, for the better part of a decade the Ukraine underwent a failed experiment in Western backed ‘neo-liberal’ economic policies. After nearly two decades of political penetration, the US and EU were deeply entrenched in the political system via long-standing funding of so-called non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), political parties and paramilitary groups.

Impeach Obama! Do It Now!

May 7th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

It's essential. It's more urgent now than ever. Madness defines his agenda. He promised hope and change.

He delivered permanent wars, domestic ruthlessness and betrayal.

He's ideologically out-of-control. He presides over a homeland police state apparatus.

He's recklessly advancing America's imperium. His quest for global dominance risks the unthinkable. Confronting Russia risks global conflict. It risks potential nuclear war. It risks possible armageddon.

It bears repeating. Madness defines US policy. Obama bears full responsibility. Neocons infest his administration. Stopping him before it's too late matters most.

America's Hidden Hunger Crisis

May 7th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Imagine tens of millions hungry in the world's richest country. Imagine bipartisan complicity ignoring a growing crisis.

Imagine uncaring policymakers. Imagine them cutting vital programs able to help when sizable increases are needed.

Imagine serving monied interests at the expense of popular ones. Imagine enriching themselves in the process.

Outnumber Hunger (OH) is a nationwide campaign. It enlists people in the growing fight against hunger. It works cooperatively with Feeding America (FA). More on FA below.

Hunger is a major problem. For nearly 50 million Americans, it's a daily reality. Around 13 million families are affected. Most are hardworking ones.

Israeli Independence Produced Nakba Suffering

May 7th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day) commemorates Israel's May 1948 Declaration of Independence.

It's celebrated annually on 5th of Iyar. It's according to the Hebrew calendar. It's preceded by Yom Hazikaron. It remembers fallen Israeli soldiers. It's Israel's Memorial Day.

Palestinians have reason to mourn. Edward Said explained Palestine's "holocaust," saying:

"Every human calamity is different, but there is value in seeing analogies and perhaps hidden similarities."

He called Nazi extermination "the lowest point of (Jewish) collective existence."

Palestinians today "are as powerless as Jews were" under Hitler,, he explained. They're devastated by "power used for evil purposes."

Ilan Pappe discussed Palestine's ethnic cleansing. He explained war without mercy.

He did so in exhaustive detail. He obtained previously suppressed documents. He explained what everyone needs to know. More on what he said below.

Fascist Aggression in Ukraine

May 6th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

It rages. It shows no signs of abating. Obama neocons direct it. Orders come straight from Washington.

US-installed fascist stooges represent Obama's imperial agenda. They're waging war on freedom. They instituted hardline rule. They want it institutionalized.

They target responsible opposition elements. They want them systematically eliminated. They represent police state ruthlessness.

They trash fundamental democratic rights. They're systematically violated them. Fascism operates this way.

It's virulent in America. It operates in Ukraine. It targets core freedoms. They're methodically destroyed. Police state ruthlessness replaced it. War on humanity continues.

Robbing Main Street to Prop Up Wall Street: Why Jerry Brown’s Rainy Day Fund Is a Bad Idea for California

May 6th, 2014

by Ellen Brown

There is no need to sequester funds urgently needed by Main Street to pay for Wall Street’s malfeasance. Californians can have their cake and eat it too – with a state-owned bank.

Governor Jerry Brown is aggressively pushing a California state constitutional amendment requiring budget surpluses to be used to pay down municipal debt and create an emergency “rainy day” fund, in anticipation of the next economic crisis.

On the face of it, it is a sensible idea. As long as Wall Street controls America’s finances and our economy, another catastrophic bust is a good bet.

But a rainy day fund takes money off the table, setting aside funds we need now to reverse the damage done by Wall Street’s last collapse. The brutal cuts of 2008 and 2009 shrank the middle class and gave California the highest poverty rate in the country.
