Emperor Obama Issuing Edicts on the Ukraine

March 7th, 2014

Michael Collins
ukraine1

Is anybody listening?

President Barack Obama appears to be at some distance from reality. He's issuing statements about the Ukrainian situation as though he were the maximum leader of a vast empire that includes just about everywhere except Russia and China.

The scope of the president's edicts is remarkable considering the lack of public support, even interest, in using the influence of the United States in this conflict. In addition, the Obama threats and actions are riddled with inconsistencies.

Propaganda War on Russia

March 7th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Propaganda wars precede hot ones. Deception, popular fiction and Big Lies launch them. Intense Russia bashing risks international peace, stability and security.

Washington's imperial war machine is humanity's greatest threat. Permanent war is official US policy.

Presidents wage one after another at their discretion. Imagine challenging Russia irresponsibly. Imagine risking open conflict doing it.

The damn fool in the White House lied claiming Moscow "seek(s) to exert force on a neighboring country." He wrongfully accused Putin of violating international law.

On Tuesday, John Kerry met with Washington-backed putschists in Kiev. He ignored longstanding lawless US aggression.

“CUALQUIER PAÍS INDEPENDIENTE QUE ES MÍNIMAMENTE FAVORABLE A NEGOCIAR Y CONTINUAR RELACIONES CON RUSIA, ES UN BLANCO DE VIOLENCIA”

March 7th, 2014

Evidence Shows Kiev Putschists Recruited Euromaidan Snipers

March 6th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet confirmed it. On February 25 , he and EU foreign policy Catherine Ashton spoke.

They were monitored. They didn't know it at the time. Their discussion was leaked.

Paet talked to Ashton after returning from Kiev, he said. "At the time, (he) was already in Estonia," he added.

On Wednesday, he held a press conference. He issued a statement saying Euromaidan killings demand an independent investigation.

Estonia's Foreign Ministry confirmed the leaked phone call's authenticity.

"We reject the claim that Paet was giving an assessment of the opposition's involvement in the violence," it stressed.

It's impossible reinterpreting what he meant.

He only commented on what he heard in Kiev. He spilled the beans. Intentionally or not, he confirmed what's been independently believed all along.

The Bush-Obama's Neocon Foreign Policy of Isolating Russia and of Expanding NATO is a Dismal Failure

March 6th, 2014

by Rodrigue Tremblay

“Every state is condemned to follow a policy dictated by its geography.”

Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

NATO's goal is] "to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down."

Lord Ismay, first NATO Secretary-General

"Of all the enemies to public liberty, war is perhaps the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other."

James Madison (1751-1836), fourth American President

The hazards associated with American foreign policy since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 should appear obvious to all, because it is precisely this policy that has caused the crisis in Ukraine with all its negative consequences for the coming months and years.

Crisis in Ukraine

March 5th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Crisis conditions in Ukraine are potentially the most dangerous since Nazism's scourge terrorized Europe.

Washington bears full responsibility. European partners share it. Obama claimed another imperial trophy. Whether he'll keep it is another matter entirely.

Vladimir Putin supports resolving conflict conditions responsibly. Western officials irresponsibly criticize him. Media scoundrels bash him mercilessly.

He's the only world leader challenging US imperial lawlessness responsibly. He deserves worldwide support.

At a March 4 news conference, he said Moscow supports peace, not war. He'll deploy troops only to protect Russian nationals.

Ukraine's legitimate President Viktor Yanukovych requested he do so. He asked him to help restore law and order.

Media Scoundrels on the Wrong Side of History

March 5th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Famed journalist George Seldes (1890 - 1995) called them "prostitutes of the press." Paul Craig Roberts calls them "presstitutes."

They're that and much more. They're propagandists, not journalists. They're charlatans. They're scam artists. They're blackguards.

They're scoundrels in the worst sense of the term. They make street whores look respectable by comparison.

They're paid to lie, distort, misinform, and blame imperial victims for horrendous crimes committed against them.

They support powerful monied interests. They ignore popular ones. They march in lockstep with imperial lawlessness.

AJ Liebling (1904 - 1963) once said: "Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one."

He added: "People everywhere confuse what they read in newspapers with news."

Western television is worst of all. It's a wasteland. Educator/media critic Neil Postman (1931 - 2003) called Americans "the most entertained and least informed people in the world."

In Birzeit, ‘Trigger Happy’ Israel Vindicates Amnesty’s Report

March 5th, 2014

By Nicola Nasser*

“The elite police unit had shot Washaha at point-blank range dozens of times,
according to the pieces of brain that covered the room, not to mention his
legs, arms and fingers that were nearly severed from his body,”

In the Palestinian West Bank town of Birzeit early last February 27, the Israeli (IDF) Occupation Forces (IOF) acted determinedly, under the media spotlights, to feed Amnesty International with a show case study to vindicate the report it released only hours earlier, entitled “Trigger-happy: Israel’s use of excessive force in the West Bank,” and to refute the Israeli official diplomatic denial of the contents thereof. Under the command of Col. Yossi Pinto, a Nahal infantry force of the Binyamin Territorial Brigade, joined by the Border Police’s elite Counterterrorism Unit, Yamam, according to Israeli The Jerusalem Post on the same day and “200 Israeli soldiers, dozens of jeeps, two (military) bulldozers and many Shin Bet [internal security] officers” according to Amira Hass of Haaretz on this March 3, including some 28 – more than thirty army patrol armored vehicles according to the count of Arab natives of Birzeit who spoke to this writer, were amassed in this Birzeit University town, raising a hell of explosives and gunfire and disrupting its peaceful countryside early spring morning.

"Fair Harvard" Lacks Fairness

March 5th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

"Fair Harvard" is the university's alma matter. Reverend Samuel Gilman (class of 1811) wrote it. He did so for Harvard's 200th anniversary.

It's sung to a traditional Irish air. Alumni recall it well. Little about today's Harvard is fair. Glorifying what demands condemnation deserves shame.

"VERITAS (truth)" is Harvard's motto. It appears on its Seal. It's on student rings. On geopolitical issues mattering most, it's nowhere in sight.

On March 4, The Harvard Crimson student newspaper headlined "Harvard Faculty, Researchers Voice Concerns about Ukrainian Crisis," saying:

"...Harvard affiliates have voiced concern over what one professor called Russia's 'naked aggression…"

East/West Confrontation Looms

March 4th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Ousting Ukraine's democratically government was planned long before violence erupted last November. Obama's dirty hands bear full responsibility.

The damn fool in the White House targeted four countries at the same time for regime change.

Libya was ravaged and destroyed. Gaddafi's murder followed. Syria was targeted at the same time.

Imported death squads are involved. Dozens die daily. No end of conflict looms. Obama manipulated so-called peace talks to fail. Direct US intervention looks likely.

Venezuelan violence continues. Obama wants Bolivarian fairness crushed. He wants neoliberal harshness replacing it. He's got other targets in mind.

Plundering Ukraine is planned. Conditions remain incendiary. The damn fool in the White House may have bitten off more than he can chew.
