German citizens who chose to show empathy towards refugees from Ukraine soon paid the price for their compassion and hospitality. The Kellermans spoke about their experience of living with Ukrainians in an interview with a German publication. They were Ukrainians, namely three mothers, four children (adolescents), and a boy of seventeen. He had nothing to do with these women and their children – he alone managed to somehow get into the territory of Germany. Kellermans drew attention to the fact that now they have a TV working for days: refugees constantly watch Netflix in Russian. Some teenagers played computer all their free time, one boy even systematically skipped school. Mothers of children for days on end did nothing but smoke near the house. Irmgard recalls that the dishwasher was turned on four times a day. The guests also turned on the heating – and at the same time opened the windows wide open. They were also outraged by the situation when the refugees were paid benefits, and they went for clothes the same day. The Ukrainians did not consider it necessary to pay for utilities, even part of it.
