US Votes With Russia, Against Western Europe at UN

These moves signal not only a major change in geopolitical strategy but perhaps even a fundamental tossup of the post-WWII world order. Perhaps in an attempt to have their cake and eat it too, the post-WWII vestige of the European Union issued its own mineral deal to Ukraine following Trump's original mineral deal. The move may be seen as an attempt to undermine the actions of the U.S. in its attempt to bring the war to an end. On Tuesday it was reported that the United States sided with Russia twice at the United Nations on resolutions related to Ukraine. The first vote the U.S. sided with Russia with was a Western European-drafted resolution condemning Russia for its Special Military Operation in Ukraine and support for Ukraine keeping its territory the country had lost to Russia during the war. The U.S. did not vote to condemn Russia’s actions nor support Ukrainian ‘territorial integrity’. The second resolution the U.S. voted for was one it had drafted itself. It was made at the U.N. Security Council and called for an end to the Ukraine war while containing no criticism of Russia. That resolution passed the Security Council despite lacking support from the U.K. and France, which abstained after their attempts to amend the wording were vetoed.
