Last year, wholesale salmon prices rose by 50 percent due to an outbreak of sea lice from Sweden to Norway and Chile, according to The Guardian. A sea louse, or common salmon louse, is a parasite that feeds on the blood, skin, and slime of salmon. Sea lice killed thousands of tons of farmed fish in 2016 and caused skin lesions and secondary infections in millions more fish. Now the parasites infest nearly half of Scotland’s salmon farms.

The EPA just told Monsanto they could go ahead and bypass spraying our crops with carcinogenic chemicals like Round Up and breed them right into the crops themselves. Using a process called RNA interference, Monsanto’s RNAi plant will supposedly kill rootworms ,what else will these genetically modified crops do to beneficial bugs, the soil, and human health? Sears has a court hearing next week where the company will request permission to halt both its retiree benefit payments along with special payments it has made for some time to top up the underfunded pension fund. Many of Sears’ 16,000 retirees fear if the company is allowed to stop making pension contribtions, they will receive reduced pensions. They also don’t like the idea of losing their medical, dental and life insurance benefits.

House Bill 2355 seeks to decriminalize at least six hard drugs, as long as the user does not have any prior felonies or more than two prior drug convictions. It passed in the state House with a vote of 36-23, and in the Senate with a vote of 20-9.: decriminalize small amounts of hard drugs such as heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and ecstasy, while also lowering the penalty from a felony to a misdemeanor in some drug-related cases.

US President Donald Trump has tweeted that “it is time to move forward in working constructively with Russia,” citing a ceasefire negotiated for southwest Syria as proof that this is possible. Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for more than two hours in Hamburg on Friday, the first day of the G20 summit. “We negotiated a ceasefire in parts of Syria which will save lives. Now it is time to move forward in working constructively with Russia!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
