The global crackdown on free speech continues unabated and if you think it’s relegated to countries like China, Cuba and North Korea, think again. A Brazilian Supreme Court panel on Monday upheld a decision to suspend Elon Musk’s social media platform X in the country. Last Friday, Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the platform blocked. Since the decision, Musk and his supporters have tried to paint de Moraes as a renegade and an authoritarian censor of political speech. But Brazil is no outlier. The European Union is also cracking down on free speech with its Online Service Act and we have our own free-speech haters here in the United States.
It is incredibly sad to watch the U.S. economy slowly but surely come apart at the seams all around us. For most of our history, the rest of the world marveled at our economic performance, and that is because we embraced economic values that led to great blessing. In recent decades, we have abandoned those values, but we were able to maintain a very high standard of living by going into unprecedented amounts of debt. Our leaders were able to keep the game going for longer than a lot of people thought, but now we have entered the final depressing chapters for the late, great U.S. economy, and we can see evidence of this all around us.
X owner Elon Musk has warned Americans that if the Democrats win the election in November, censorship of the platform is a “certainty.”
Musk was responding to a post that posited X could be suspended in America as it has just been in Brazil by a leftist judge acting to censor his political opponents.

The Guardian's Robert Reich is so upset about the direction Musk has taken X that he wants regulators around the world to "threaten" Musk "with arrest" unless he capitulates to certain demands. Reich's reasons for boycotting Tesla are obviously different as he sees Musk as someone who is allowing too much online free speech.
Kamala Harris has so far provided only scant and shifting details on her plans in many policy areas, even walking back her extreme and unpopular positions through unattributed statements from her campaign. Yet on issues of labor, no speculation is needed: Harris has consistently, loudly and unequivocally advocated for policies that grant union officials unprecedented control over both workers and their pocketbooks. Most notably, the union-label Harris has repeatedly expressed support for the repeal of every state Right to Work law in the country.
Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, may be the current world-class champ of presidential-family shady dealings, but not for long. If Kamala Harris wins the White House, her brother-in-law, Tony West, who is married to her sister Maya, is poised to claim the crooked crown. Like Hunter, West learned his craft in the Obama years.
At a campaign rally on Thursday in Georgia, Democratic nominee for President Kamala Harris said that she and current US President Joe Biden are “working around the clock” to secure a hostage deal and ceasefire in Gaza. That same day, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the US was “rushing” arms shipments to Israel.
Companies like Volkswagen are considering drastic measures as Germany suffers deindustrialization, including plant closures and the severing of longstanding labor agreements. Volkswagen is considering its first ever German plant closures in the company’s 87-year history as the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline and US-backed sanctions on Russian gas continue to wreak havoc on the European country’s economy.
The United States has shown complete disregard for international legal norms by seizing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's airplane, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday. "The US authorities have seized a Venezuelan presidential aircraft that was undergoing maintenance in the Dominican Republic. Once again, they have demonstrated their complete disregard for international legal norms and, citing the 'right of the strong,' have sent yet another signal that the US, as it understands it, can dispose of the sovereign property of another state," Zakharova said in a statement.
A Labor Day stabbing in the American heartland is putting a new spotlight on the dangers of illegal immigrant crime. According to WGN-TV in Chicago, a 26-year-old Honduran man, who was deported from the U.S. during the Trump administration, was arrested Sunday after a knife attack the day before on a 14-year-old girl watching her brother's baseball game in northwestern Indiana.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens agreed with a guest who recently expressed that pedophiles and their victims are installed in positions of power around the globe, making them easier to blackmail and control. Appearing on Owens’ podcast last week, journalist Xavier Poussard discussed his theory not only that the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, Brigette, is actually a man, but that Macron was groomed in transgender circles from an early age.

The Biden-Harris administration has lost track of more than 320,000 migrant children who crossed the border without parents, according to a shocking new report. Untold numbers of the children — who were released into the US to “qualified sponsors” — are now at risk of sex trafficking, forced labor and other forms of exploitation, a Homeland Security Inspector General’s report released Monday said. As of May 2024, there are 291,000 migrant children who arrived in the US as unaccompanied minors who were set free and never given a date to appear in immigration court — meaning there is no way to track their whereabouts.
Ukraine can deploy F-16 fighter jets obtained from the Netherlands against Russian targets, as stated by the country’s armed forces commander Onno Eichelsheim in an interview with NOS. “We’ve placed no restrictions on the use or range of the F-16s, provided that the laws of war are respected,” he clarified. Eichelsheim emphasized that this policy extends to other weaponry supplied by the Netherlands—the Ukrainian military is empowered to utilize them on the battlefield “at their discretion,” as long as they comply with international humanitarian law. “We are committed to Ukraine’s victory and are doing everything possible to support them,” he noted.

There is no greater strategic madness than the belief that nuclear superiority must be maintained at each rung of the nuclear ladder in order to maintain deterrence. U.S. weapons technology was a major driver of escalation dominance throughout the 1950s and 1960s along with the belief that the Soviet Union would move to a level of nuclear conflict that the United States could not counter. “Dr. Strangelove or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Bomb” parodied these fears, and the arms control and disarmament developments of the 1970s and 1980s helped to defuse them. Sadly, the Biden administration has taken a step that suggests a return to escalation dominance, which will spiral a Pentagon budget that will soon reach $1 trillion per year.

Nuclear weapons offer an illusion of security. By allowing the U.S. nuclear posture to shift from deterrence to employment, there will be a scenario where the U.S. will use nuclear weapons. And then it’s lights out. Successive U.S. administrations have eschewed arms control in favor of maintaining American strategic advantage over real and/or imagined adversaries. This is accomplished by embracing nuclear weapons employment strategies that deviate from simple deterrence into war-fighting at every level of conflict, including scenarios that don’t involve a nuclear threat.

Brazilians using a VPN to access the app could be fined $8,874 a day, the Supreme Court has said. Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court of Brazil has ordered the operations of X (formerly Twitter) to be “immediately suspended” and threatened draconian fines against anyone trying to sidestep the ban. De Moraes demanded that X censor several accounts that “spread disinformation” by criticizing him, but the platform’s owner Elon Musk refused.

Footage reportedly shows over a dozen combat vehicles targeted by Iskander and rocket artillery strikes in Ukraine’s Sumy Region. Russian forces have conducted a coordinated strike against a large gathering of Ukrainian reserve forces across the border from Russia’s Kursk Region, according to new video shared on social media by military bloggers. Hostilities have been ongoing in the border areas of Russia’s Kursk since Kiev launched a major incursion earlier this month. While Ukrainian forces continue their attempts to push deeper into Russian territory, Moscow has sought to push them back while striking rear targets in Ukraine's adjacent Sumy Region.

Government overspending is to blame for inflation in America, the tech billionaire has argued. The US is rapidly moving towards bankruptcy because the government in Washington is spending too much money, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has warned. On Thursday, Musk shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) platform by another user, who cited a forecast from the US government budget for fiscal year 2025 that said that the budget deficit could increase from the current $1.8

Dmitry Peskov indicated there are no foreseeable prospects for a recovery in ties between the nations. At a time when the U.S.-led NATO proxy war in Ukraine against Russia has entered a disastrous phase of defeat, the Western elite must shut down all and every critical media. Absurd charges of complicity in crimes are a cover for closing down free speech and information critical of Western regimes. It’s as simple and as tyrannical as that. Telegram owner Pavel Durov could be held in France for years while an investigation is carried out. If found guilty, he then faces 10 years in jail. There are sinister echoes of the persecution of Julian Assange in this case. Telegram founder and owner, Pavel Durov (39) was arrested on August 24 by French police officers as he stepped off his private jet that had landed in Le Bourget airport, north of Paris. He had flown from Azerbaijan.
