« Readings from “City Sages: Baltimore” | Labor Takes on the Banksters: Sights and Scenes from the Rally » |
from William Hughes
On Monday, May 17, 2010, a spirited rally and march was held in a steady rain, in Washington, D.C. Labor organizations and their allies in the activist community put the event together. The powerful Wall Street Banks, and the influence-peddling “K” Street Lobbyists, were the primary targets of the protesters. Speaking on camera were: Ernie Grecco, President Metropolitan Baltimore Council AFL-CIO Unions; Mary Kay Henry, President of the SEIU; Al Marshall, a member of the SEIU; and, Charles Baker, who is with N.O.A.H., in Cleveland, OH. Over 2,000 individuals took part in the demonstration, according to the organizers. For background, see: http://blog.aflcio.org/2010/05/17/join-us-today-for-the-k-street-showdown/
