On July 20, 2010, a rally was held on Capitol Hill, in Washington, D.C., to protest BP. Activists from a wide array of organizations participated. They were demanding, according to their press release, for the U.S. Congress “to pass legislation to end America’s addiction to oil,” while urging the lawmakers “to [also] donate money raised from the oil industry to the clean-up efforts in the Gulf [of Mexico].
