On Saturday, January 29, 2011, at noon, an “emergency demonstration” was staged in front of the Egyptian Embassy, in Washington, D.C. It was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and a host of other activist groups in the area. According to the ANSWER Coalition’s press release, the purpose of the rally was to “show solidarity with the Egyptian people” in their struggle to overthrow the “dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak,” who has received for decades “$2 billion a year” in U.S. aid to prop up his “corrupt regime.” This video features Brian Becker, National Coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition.
