Richard L. Trumka, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, was one of the featured speakers at the "International Workers Day Celebration" event, held on May 1, 2008, at the National Labor College, in Silver Spring, MD. He ripped into the evils of Globalization and the harmful effects that it is having on the economy and in particular on the lives of working class Americans. Mr. Trumka also charged: "Wall St. has hijacked the economy!" He is the former President of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA)
