Late on Monday afternoon, September 9th, activists set up a “peace vigil” at St. Paul Street and University Parkway, close to the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore, MD. Their message: “No U.S. War with Syria.” At the demonstration, I talked with peace and justice activist, Lisa Simone. She said: “There is no way that bombing Syria is going to help anybody...The U.S. is drone-bombing civilians in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and other places around the world as it is. We’re already killing civilians left and right...We should be talking about a negotiated settlement [in Syria] and woking towards a cease fire. We should not be going to war.”
