Some interesting statistics and information about the laws against marijuana. The present system of laws and the persecution of millions of Americans and hundreds of millions of people worldwide is driven by corporate greed, power, racism, politics, and a need to justify police state.

Russian drug czar Viktor Ivanov has flown into California and offered his unsolicited opinion on marijuana legalization there, warning of "psychiatric deviations" if Proposition 19 should pass. Ivanov, a former KGB officer and now a prominent member of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's inner circle, took the unusual step of going to Los Angeles to "conduct a campaign against legalizing marijuana in California," as he said in an interview, according to Foreign Policy.
Why is it so important to the Russian drug czar Viktor Ivanov that California not legalize marijuana? Because he needs the draconian laws to remain in place in America to hold on to his police power in Russia. The existence of the laws as they are in Russia serves as an excuse to have many more police and more jails, a virtual army of police all fighting the menace killer weed.
The Russians take from the world what interests them. They are consummate watches learning, imitating, and developing from what they learn and they are watching California closely. California's economy is the largest of any state in the US, and is the eighth largest economy in the world. If California were to make the progressive and long overdue decision to end the senseless persecution of people for consuming marijuana this would send a clear signal to the ruling liberal elite of Russia that perhaps they too should rethink the whole police state option.
The marijuana laws as they stand today, continue to serve the interests of racism because an inordinately large number of minorities are incarcerated for possession of marijuana. The legalization of marijuana continues to be influenced by corporate greed because the number of excellent products that can be produced from marijuana has only increased since the days of Henry Ford's cannabis car bodies. Therefore such products and materials must be kept off the market to prevent competition which would threaten special interests. And then there are politicians with corporate prison lobbyist friends who want to keep the marijuana laws in place with stiff prison sentences. After all there are tens of millions of marijuana offenders who are just ordinary people, which makes them ideal and plentiful prison inmates in the corporate prison system.
