On Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2011, scores of Human Rights activists demonstrated outside the U.S. Justice Department, in Washington, D.C. They were staging "a day of action," directed at closing Gitmo and ending torture. There were no arrests. Featured in this video are: Author Andy Worthington; activists Ruth Hooke and Ray McGovern; and, Peace Poet, Luke Nephew. Set to sail on a ship called Spirit from Cyprus
My cargo is medicine, food, and love for the lifeless
We seek and speak peace like King Cyrus
Against a deadly plague known as the Zionism virus
Not that H1N1 theyre selling to your iris
But deep hatred and them some that will make you shut your eyelids
How can the whole world watch genocide and keep quiet?
The peace keepers, grim reapers
Their media keeps you silent
Their speakers sell you freedom with bloodshed and violence
Their leaders are deceivers receiving your compliance
They misled you to forget the AIPAC alliance
And dominate the world by controlling advanced science
Listen up my friends these words will give you guidance
Turn up your volume; its time to break the silence
Mr. Odrama, Do you understand?
Zionists are killing kids in the Holy Land
Cynthia McKinney, Please hold up your hand
Spirit of Humanity, Palestine stands
The world economy is doomed to spiral downwards until we do 2 things: outlaw government borrowing; 2. outlaw fractional reserve lending. Banks should only be allowed to lend out money they actually have and nations do not have to run up a "National Debt". Remember: It's not what backs the money, it's who controls its quantity. A micro-funding site for my new book, "No More National Debt". To check it out, go to KickStarter and search for "Bill Still".
Gerald Celente, the founder of the Trends Research Institute, believes that the Internet will empower the youth of the world to unite to start a revolution that will overthrow the existing deadlocked elitist establishment. He predicts that in 2011 every citizen is going to realize that the Great Recession the world has been living through is actually a Great Depression, because the American establishment is "running out of schemes."

On Monday evening, Jan. 10, 2011, author David Swanson discussed, and signed, his latest book, “War Is a Lie,” before a SRO audience. The literary happening was held at a Barnes & Noble store, in Baltimore, MD, near the campus of Johns Hopkins U. The event was coordinated by activist Diane Wittner, who also introduced the author. [A fuller version of Mr. Swanson’s book discussion, along with the Q&A session, comments by Debra Sweet and Andy Worthington, the singing of some ballads by the “Charm City Labor Chorus,” will be posted on Vimeo later this week.]
The US is pumping billions of dollars into regenerating Iraq. But with thousands there still living below the poverty line, many have yet to see any improvement in living standards. As RT's Sebastian Myer reports, some are forced to live in dumping grounds, scavenging through waste just to earn a few dollars. So this is what American Democracy looks like.

Today's high tech world has made it a lot easier to videotape police, but it may have also made it more dangerous. RT's Ramon Galindo shows us how a high school student has become the latest target in the war on cameras. It's quite obvious that the police want to be able to beat people and kill people with impunity and they fear the public exposing them. Welcome to the police state Americans.
Bonus time is approaching on Wall Street, and to the anger of many, the rewards are set to rise. But it's not just bankers' bonuses going up, so is unemployment across America. Thanks to the actions of those same financial institutions who were rescued with billions of dollars in bail out cash. RT's Marina Portnaya looks at where that money is ending up.
