Graylan Hagler, a longtime fighter for peace and justice. He said: “Let’s build a world filled with justice...We need to push and shove to make people do what is right...If we can reward the banks, then we can surely reward the workers in this country.” Rev. Hagler strongly objected to President Barack Obama’s plan to send 30,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan. The purpose of the demonstration was to protest President Barack Obama’s LBJ-Vietnam-War-like decision to escalate the conflict in Afghanistan. He has ordered 30,000 more U.S. troops to that country, which is well known as a “graveyard of imperial powers.” I talked with Jim Baldridge, who is with the “Veterans for Peace” and the “Vietnam Veterans Against the War.” He spoke out strongly against Obama’s latest war-related conduct. Activists from “The Pledge of Resistance,” “Baltimore United for Peace and Justice,” and the “ANSWER Coalition” were at the rally.

He said: “I believe [President Barack] Obama is worse than Bush! Bush was a buffoon... a puppet. [Dick] Cheney was behind him. A war that will do nothing to protect our security.

A war that will result in the deaths of thousands of Americans and Afghans.

A war that will eat up resources that should be going to jobs, homes, schools, health care. A war that will hurt rather than help the people of Afghanistan.
