Truths Forgotten

April 18th, 2009

Jan Hipple

The heaviness of rain falls upon the parched earth and deep in her soul a new life springs forward. It seeks the warmth of the sun, as it sprouts through the warm earth and smiles at a new day of freedom. Reaching up to taste the truth of liberty the new life sees in order to survive it must work hard in defending the principles entrusted to them. But, with life comes the darkness in the form of sharp tongues and bitter words. Shallow men find ways to obstruct the view of liberty and deny the rights of all, for themselves. Integrity and courage were abandoned for their lust for power and greed, and with no remorse they turned their heads to a people who shouted for their voices to be heard. Our voices in the media slowly backed and let biased commentary rule. My hero, Mr. Tim Russert would be ashamed of his peers for following one side of the story without a thought for the truth.

Have we progressed backwards in time to where we came, and forgotten the history of our past. Americans are people of all races and faiths who struggle daily with those who corrupted our lively hood seeking their own agenda of power. That new life born over two hundred years ago now seeks refuge from the oppressors of old. Once we were the voice of this republic, but now our voices are tuned out for reasons of selfishness. Dangerous liaisons are made with those who brought terror into our country with words of hate for the freedom we cherish. But, still we smile as we appease their souls with unearned apologies, and walk like sheep to the slaughter. We were once courageous and an honorable people, but now we shame our forefathers with unscrupulous remarks that disgrace our republic. Timidity is now part of our character for not looking our foe in the eye with an unwavering display of truth and courage. Our officials in government lack the common sense to run a nation with the basic traits a moral man carries deep in his very being. Those traits called virtue, honor, honesty, empathy, courage, faith, and a truth that bind our nation in the sweetness of her liberty.

You may grow tired of my words, but this my role as an American to speak out for what I see happening to our great republic. For you see I love my country and hope to never see her kneel in fear before the evil that crawls quietly into our land. If you are a person of faith, this may be the time you should say a prayer for our great republic, and may God have mercy on us for casting him aside, for our own arrogance in thinking we are superior to all.
