The Democrats and influential Kennedys and associates declaring a state of emergency have succeeded in shoving a totally unqualified man into the U.S. Senate.

The New York Times is reporting that Paul G. Kirk assumes deceased Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy¡¯s Senate seat because Kennedy¡¯s widow and his sons wanted Kirk to have the Senate seat.

Though Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is said to have considered qualified people with proven records of government service (former Massachusetts governor and 1988 presidential nominee Michael S. Dukakis and former lieutenant governor Evelyn Murphy) for the Senate seat, he ended up declaring a state emergency (upheld by the court) to shove Paul Kirk into the Senate.

America is again forced to suffer and stay silent about a 71-year-old Senate member clearly without qualifications, void of merit in this man¡¯s ¡°meritocracy¡± rising to another super powerful perch from which to lengthen his and other dynasties¡¯ reach of unchecked influence.

Forbes puts Paul G. Kirk¡¯s knowledge and experience in retail, consulting, insurance, real estate, financial services, and sitting on powerful boards of directors.

He is a former partner (retired) of Sullivan & Worcester, LLP (Boston) and a former member of the boards of directors of ITT Corporation (1989-1997) and Bradley Real Estate Inc. (1991-2000), a real estate investment trust later acquired by Heritage Property Investment Trust Inc.

Kirk is listed by Forbes as lead director of Cedar Shopping Centers Inc (Port Washington, NY), chairman and chief executive officer of Kirk and Associates business advisory and consulting, and member of the board of directors of the Hartford Financial Services Group and Rayonier, Incorporated (a real estate investment trust listed on the New York Stock Exchange). He also chairs the board of directors of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation; and is founder and co-chairperson of the Commission on Presidential Debates.

Positions of friendship, political aide and party boss are not nor should they be qualifications for seats in the U.S. Senate.

The means by which Kirk enters the Senate is offensive and regressive. Whether he holds the position temporarily or permanently or whether he promises to or not to run for office when his hold on the seat expires, democracy in America has again been dealt a setback ©¤ reduced to tainted accession driven by dynasty, nepotism entrenching the status quo.

Kirk is an ¡°entitled¡± squatter, keeper of the gate that bars competent, caring, less connected servants of the people from assuming positions of power.
