Gun Control: A Diversion From Reality

December 17th, 2012

By Shawn Connors

There’s not many advantages of growing old, but one of them is living through history instead of reading a revisionist version of it. During the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s mass shooting of innocent people were literally unheard of. We never experienced these atrocities until the last 20 years. Sure, criminals shot each other up – but mass killing of innocent kids? Hardly.

American Pilgrims had guns in 1620. We’ve had the U.S. Bill of Rights 2nd amendment for 236 years. Gun laws today are stricter than ever.
Q: What social construct has changed in the last 20 years to cause this phenomena of massive killing?
A: Meds.

Since the introduction of Psychotropic drugs, erratic behavior has become substantially more extreme. Examples are abundant. The introduction of constant behavioral medication became mainstream in the 1990’s. Mass shootings followed. Administering brain altering medication is questionable science, but the dependency and withdrawal effects from it are not.

Despite what quack science & big pharma tell us - adjusting the serotonin levels of human brains isn’t normal. Humans have roamed the Earth for 200,000+ years, we dealt with our problems & emotions naturally. What logic dictates that mind altering drugs make someone better? Hmm………The logic of control & revenue?

The long term effects haven’t been tested – but a bigger picture is developing. With breezy FDA approval, Family Services & US DoE acceptance…it makes one wonder if it ever was about children after all. Eventually, even teacher unions supported the doping of children to make their jobs “easier”.

The coincidence of Introducing Psychotropic drugs into society & mass shootings should be scrutinized meticulously – doubtful it will be. In nearly every case of shooting massacres, the killers have been prescribed medication. You seldom hear that fact on TV. Antidepressant medication, Serotonin re-uptake inhibitors such as Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Ritalin, & Wellbutrin, have accounted for 1000’s of deaths. Columbine and Virginia Tech saw killers recently off their meds. Michael Moore conveniently forgot to mention that.

U.S. Annual Gun Homicides average 9000. U.S. Annual Motor Vehicle Deaths average 45,000. Should we outlaw cars? The politics of revenue & control don’t want these facts on the news. An awakened populace is dangerous. The politics of revenue & control push mind controlling drugs. Dumbed down, mind numb children become adults in 18 years – they vote. The politics of revenue & control want more…revenue & control. They want your guns so you can’t fight against their manipulation & tyranny. The politics of revenue & control defies logic. Orwell said it best. War = Peace, Freedom = Slavery, Ignorance = Strength,

  • Feminism was once a revolutionary force, a creed born out of struggle, resilience, and the dream of a world much different from what we had been given. It was born from the pain of millions of women working, poor, Black, Indigenous, women of color who refused to take the world as it was. And yet, today, feminism is an idea manipulated, diluted, commodified, and often controlled by those very forces that it initially came into being to dismantle from the military-industrial complex to corporate media giants; feminism today hardly resembles its initial mission of radical social transformation. This has happened because things are ingrained in how our media landscape rolls along. We hardly notice how forces remake feminist discourse into more palatable, consumer-friendly, and politically neutral forms. The corporations that run the media, the intelligence agencies that shape public opinion, and the political powers that remain in control have combined a grand symphony of influence that has redefined feminism, replacing its radical edges with a glittering but hollow vision of empowerment. It is time to reclaim the radical roots of feminism to inspire a new generation of activists to fight for real change.
