Israel's Likely Coalition Partner Government Threatens Humanity

January 27th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

Extremist Israel officials favor wealth, power, privilege and dominance. Tuesday's elections hardened fascism.

Palestinians have the greatest cross to bear. Jews have their own. Humanity very much is threatened. More on that below.

Expect occupation harshness to be worse than ever. Palestinians are blamed for Israeli crimes. World leaders target them.

On January 20, Electronic Intifada contributor Amena Saleem said Britain's Foreign Office blames Gazans "for bringing suffering on themselves." Doing so exposed its "one-sided view."

Identical letters were sent the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and PSC members. They advocate for "peace & justice for Palestinians."

They champion right over wrong. They support international rule of law principles. They deplore apartheid. They oppose all forms of racism.

Britain's Foreign Office turned truth on its head. It wasn't the first time. It blamed Palestinians for eight days of Israeli Pillar of Cloud mass murder.

It was premeditated naked aggression. Israel's hegemonic ambitions take precedence. Palestinian lives don't matter. Slow-motion genocide is official policy. It's been that way for decades.

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague pointed fingers the wrong way. Hamas bears "principle responsibility," he said. Self-defense is criminal, he suggested. What international law permits, Hague scorns.

Britain's rogue government does repeatedly. War criminals hold high office. Hague is one of the worst. He belongs in prison, not government.

He spuriously accused Iran. He said it partners with Hamas against Israel.

Barry Griffiths represents Britain's Foreign Office Near East Department. He addressed PCO and its members. He lied saying he'd "like to reassure (them) that the UK in no way seeks to take sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."

Britain's done it for decades. Its 1917 Balfour Declaration made today's crisis possible. Instead of addressing what matters, Griffiths said:

"We made clear that Hamas bore principal responsibility for the start of the current crisis, because the conflict would not have happened without the significant increase in rocket attacks in 2012, and particularly in the latter months, including Hamas ending its own ceasefire."

Multiple Israeli attacks initiated conflict. On November 14, Ahmed Jabari was assassinated. He headed Hamas' Qassam Brigades. Attacking him killed another eight Palestinians.

Palestinian resistance groups promised revenge. Jabari actively sought peace. Hours before his murder, he completed a draft truce agreement. It included ways to establish ceasefires in future flare-ups.

Israel knew he was working with Egypt for permanent truce. He was murdered to prevent it. Israel abhors peace and stability. It prioritizes conflict and violence. It blames victims for its own crimes. It gets away with murder with impunity.

Griffiths showed which side Britain's Foreign Office backs. It endorses Israel's worst crimes. It's got plenty of blood on its own hands.

Griffith ignored occupation harshness. He said nothing about besieged Gaza. Silence reflects support. It spurns international law.

Pillar of Cloud slaughter was justified, he claimed. Dozens of lost Palestinian lives don't matter. Most were civilian men, women, children, infants and the elderly.

Israel had no fatalities. Before he died, Jabari ordered retaliatory Hamas rockets launched on open spaces. He wanted Israeli casualties avoided. He believed saving lives mattered. Israel murders with impunity.

Griffith didn't surprise. He left him unmentioned. He pointed fingers the wrong way.

"We have consistently condemned indiscriminate rocket attacks into Israel which are contrary to international humanitarian law and do nothing to help the people of Gaza," he claimed.

Collective punishment is official Israeli policy. Occupation is ruthlessly enforced. So is Gaza's siege. Jews alone matter. Palestinians are considered subhuman. They're persecuted like Nazis treated Jews.

Britain's Foreign Office doesn't notice. Israeli state terror is ignored. Palestinian suffering doesn't matter. Griffith's letter showed contempt for what's right. It revealed UK "impartiality" is just a figure of speech.

From January 21 - February 1, the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) holds its 15th session Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group.

On January 29, Israel is assessed. Expect its worst crimes to be whitewashed. High Commissioner Navi Pillay is a reliable imperial tool. She blames victims for Western crimes.

She'll go easy on Israel. Netanyahu's taking no chances. Maan News said "Israel is expected to boycott" HRC's session.

In December 2008, Israel was last reviewed. It attended. Boycotting would be unprecedented. It's minor compared to mass murder.

Israel tolerates no criticism. Last May, it suspended HRC relations. It called its slaps on the wrist biased. It requested postponing the January 29 session.

According to HRC spokesman Rolando Gomez:

"A decision will be taken in the event Israel does not show up for its UPR." The council "will decide on a course of action. States are working very hard behind the scenes to come up with a solution."

In other words, instead of holding Israel accountable for crimes of war, against humanity, and genocide, Pillay wants Israel largely absolved.

UN investigators will report on whether settlements violate international law. Washington tried to prevent it. International law is clear. Israeli settlements are illegal.

Fourth Geneva's Article 49 states:

"Individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory to the territory of the Occupying Power or to that of any other country, occupied or not, are prohibited, regardless of their motive."

Investigations waste time. They reflect coverup and denial. Israeli settlements expanded for decades. They occupy over half of the West Bank and large portions of East Jerusalem.

Condemnation, sanctions with teeth, and isolating Israel politically should have happened long ago. It didn't then. It won't now.

Minor slaps on the wrist don't matter. Doing so lets Israel get away with murder. It does so repeatedly. Rhetoric doesn't substitute for accountability. Israel takes full advantage.

Its 19th Knesset represents hardened fascism. Netanyahu is one of many likeminded extremists. War criminals will dominate his cabinet. They support the worst rogue governance.

Settlement construction will accelerate. Neoliberal harshness will be prioritized. State terror will target Palestinians. They'll be punished for praying to the wrong God.

Washington and Israel partner in regional wars. Iran may be preemptively attacked. The entire region may be embroiled.

Innocent victims will suffer most. Millions more may die. Humanity may be threatened. Washington and Israel created crisis conditions. The most perilous time in world history exists.

Daily events should scare everyone. Permanent wars rage. More are planned. Conquest, occupation, colonization, and exploitation are prioritized.

Israel partners with Washington's crimes. They ravage one country after another. They wage war on humanity. Neither country tolerates peace. Human rights don't matter.

Upside down reality endangers everyone. Warmakers win peace prizes. Rewarding them encourages more killing. Why not when war is considered peace.

Conquest, dominance, corporate favoritism, and benefitting super-rich elites matter. Today's world isn't safe to live in. Axis of evil partners Washington and Israel endanger humanity. With Britain, France and other key NATO partners they may destroy it.

At the same time, millions are unemployed. Poverty's expanding exponentially. So are homelessness, hunger, and human misery. Environment dangers are ignored.

Media scoundrels don't explain. Western ones turn a blind eye. They support what demands condemnation. They ignore crisis conditions. In the process, they betray readers and viewers. So do policymakers.

Israel's new Knesset represents extremist rogue governance. Likely coalition partners heighten world dangers. Fascist rule is policy. Worse than ever times loom. Obama's a willing partner.

It's hard imagining a more perilous time in world history. Too few people understand. Most knowing enough are dismissive.

Inaction lets Washington, Israel, and other rogue governments get away with murder. Humanity more than ever is imperiled. Tyranny of ill intentions threatens everyone. If that's not enough to matter, what is?
