Obama's Hell Bent for War on Syria

September 15th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

Longstanding US plans call for regime change. War is Obama's option of choice. Giving peace a chance isn't tolerated.

Proxy war continues. Throughout two and half years of conflict, Washington's been supplying insurgents with weapons, funding, training and direction. CIA operatives are involved. So are US special forces.

Russia's peace initiative slowed Obama's war machine. It's not deterred. It's perhaps another major false flag attack away.

Intense anti-Syrian propaganda continues. Media scoundrels regurgitate official lies. Truth and full disclosure are verboten.

Obama's war is delayed. He's poised to order Libya 2.0. He'll do so in stages. He didn't initiate war to back off. Russia's going all out to stop him. Long odds suggest what's unlikely to succeed.

Obama's rage for war explains why. So does intense anti-Syrian propaganda. Orwell said in "times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."

His 1984 newspeak slogan was: "War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength."

Facts are turned on their head. Vital truths are consistently shut out. Big Lies substitute.

Doing so sells war. It does it duplicitously. Propaganda puff pieces repeat with disturbing regularity.

On September 12, Wall Street Journal writers lied for power. They headlined "Elite Syrian Unit Scatters Chemical Arms Stockpile." They suggested Assad ordered it after agreeing to Russia's peace proposal.

No credible evidence was cited. There is none other than what's old news and irrelevant to what's now ongoing. Journal sources are unnamed "American and Middle East officials." For sure they include Israeli ones.

They have good reason to lie. They want Syrian sovereignty destroyed. They want vassal state governance replacing it. They want Iran isolated.

They want the Islamic Republic consigned to history's dustbin. They want unchallenged regional dominance. It want it extended globally. They want control of world resources. They want ordinary people exploited.

War is their option of choice. They're waging one after another. They risk the worst of all possible outcomes. They risk igniting global conflict. They risk what they can't control. They risk humanity's survival

Media scoundrels are part of the problem. Journal writers claimed Syria's "secretive" "elite" "military" Unit 450 "has been moving stocks of poison gases and munitions to as many as 50 sites to make them harder for the US to track."

They've been doing it for "months, officials and lawmakers briefed on the intelligence said."

Why now wasn't explained after Assad agreed in writing to comply with all Chemical Weapons Convention provisions.

Washington would call failure to do so just cause for war. What responsible leader would risk it? What could be gained?

Assad committed to peaceful conflict resolution. He's going all out to achieve it. He's doing it despite Washington's ongoing proxy war.

CIA and US special forces are involved. Coldblooded killers are recruited. They're heavily armed, funded, trained and directed.

Obama wants to be Al Qaeda's air force. Imagine public rage if media scoundrels explained things this way.

Journal writers said Syria's Unit 450 is a branch of its Scientific Studies and Research Center. It "manages (Assad's) overall chemical weapons program."

It's "in charge of mixing and deploying chemical munitions, and it provides security at chemical sites, according to US and European intelligence agencies."

Journal writers repeated the Big Lie. They claimed Syrian responsibility for August 21's Ghouta attack.

Insurgents bore full responsibility. Clear evidence proves it. Journal writers suppressed what demands reporting.

They focused on suspect chemical weapons dispersal. They suggested it's ongoing now. Doing so would mean Assad has something to hide.

It says his peace offer is disingenuous. It helps justify Obama's war. US officials were cited saying he wants military strikes sending Unit 450 commanders a message.

Using chemical weapons involves a "steep price." No matter that insurgents alone used them. Journal writers didn't explain.

Nor do other media scoundrels. They turn truth on its head. What's most important to report, they suppress. They ignore fundamental international law.

It bears repeating. No nation may interfere in the internal affairs of others. They're forbidden from doing so except in self-defense if attacked.

They may respond until the Security Council rules. It has final say. Under the Constitution's Supremacy Clause (Article VI, clause 2), all treaties and conventions agreed to automatically become the "supreme Law of the Land."

House and Senate legislators are prohibited from authorizing what contradicts international and constitutional law.

In September 2001, Congress lawlessly approved the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) for "the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States."

Carte blanche war-making authority was granted. America's war on terror began. It continues out-of-control. It does so at home and abroad. It does it lawlessly. It does it one war of aggression after another. They repeat in disturbing succession.

Section 1034 of HR 1540: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 said:

"(1) the United States is engaged in an armed conflict with al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and associated forces and that those entities continue to pose a threat to the United States and its citizens, both domestically and abroad;

(2) the President has the authority to use all necessary and appropriate force during the current armed conflict with al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and associated forces pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40)...."

As commander in chief, presidents wage wars at their discretion. One follows another. Congressional budgets prioritize them.

Rule of law principles are spurned. So are democratic values. Vital homeland needs go begging. Big Lies defend the indefensible.

Another war looms. Syria's in the eye of the storm. Before it ends, it may be entirely destroyed. Perhaps hundreds of thousands will die. Those those surviving won't have much to live for.

Obama bears full responsibility. He represents the worst of rogue governance. Monied interests own him. Whatever they want they get.

He's out-of-control. He's unaccountable. A special place in hell awaits him. It bears repeating. He deserves a lower level Dante forgot. He deserves to remain there for eternity and then some.
