President Barack Obama has shamelessly flaunted his British neo-conservative colors in his enthusiastic backing for Victoria Nuland, in her prominent role in provoking a direct confrontation with Russia. Her efforts have now reached the point that her continuation as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs leaves the world on the edge of global showdown, including the growing prospect of a thermonuclear war of extinction.

Lyndon LaRouche on Friday demanded her immediate removal. "Nuland has to be removed from her post. By doing that we reduce the immediate danger of world war," LaRouche declared. LaRouche also cited German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose own reckless attacks on Russian President Putin have contributed greatly to the intensified war danger.

Merkel's insanity has provoked a growing chorus of leading German figures, including former Chancellor Schröder and former President Herzog, to join in calling for a renewal of German-Russian and European-Russian dialogue and cooperation. A full-page ad to this effect has appeared in the current issue of the prestigious Die Zeit weekly in Germany on Friday.

The bill of indictment against Nuland is clear. She has been the point person within the Obama Administration, promoting confrontation with Russia. She was the architect of the regime-change effort in Ukraine over the past year, using neo-Nazi elements from the Right Sector and other Banderist remnants, to overthrow a legitimately elected government; and when the European Union and Russia came close to reaching a diplomatic agreement to clear the Maidan Square in February 2014, and end the violence, she was intercepted telling the U.S. Ambassador in Kiev "f__k the European Union."

Nuland was a key fixture in the Bush-Cheney neo-con regime with its policy of permanent war and permanent regime change. As a career foreign service officer, she was assigned to the Office of Vice President Dick Cheney, as his Principal Deputy Foreign Policy Advisor at the start of the Bush-Cheney administration. In 2005, Bush named her U.S. Ambassador to NATO—coinciding with the unleashing of the first "Orange Revolution" in Ukraine.

Nuland's husband, Robert Kagan, is another leading neo-conservative, having co-founded the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) and the American Committee for Peace in Chechnya, a Freedom House front that actually promoted the cause of the Chechen rebels against the Putin government during the Second Chechen War. Obama has praised Kagan to the sky, and even referenced his recent essay in his 2012 State of the Union Address.

Nuland, LaRouche emphasized, is a point of vulnerability for Obama, who is already hated by an overwhelming majority of Americans, who increasingly demand his impeachment. "If Nuland is taken out of her position as liaison, the war danger is reduced. We can prevent world war through Nuland's ouster. She has no right to provoke Russia as she is doing."
