Tricks Western ‘News’ Media Use to Deceive about Ukraine’s War

January 7th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

Because of the ample video and other evidence that the Ukrainian Government is pursuing an ethnic-cleansing policy to get rid of the residents in the area of Ukraine that had voted 90% for the Democratically elected Ukrainian President that Obama’s State Department and CIA overthrew on 22 February 2014, Western ‘news’ media have had difficulty fooling their audiences into the idea that the regime that Obama installed in late February to take over the country is not racist-fascist, otherwise known as nazi, in its character and policies. The video and other evidences are simply too pervasive and numerous for them to deny, and so these media have taken increasingly to saying that the Ukrainian regime’s nazism is just the West’s tit against the evil Putin’s tat. However, they cannot show comparable video evidence of the pro-Russians bombing villages and cities, and machine-gunning busloads of escaping refugees in order to kill them and not merely expel them, and marching and chanting nazi slogans and flags and swastikas. So, here will be exposed an example of this deception-tactic, of this supposed tit-for-tat nazism, to make clear how this lying-technique is practiced by the BBC (and other ‘news’ media):

On December 13th, the BBC headlined deceptively to fool its readers into thinking that they’d be reading an article critical of the Ukrainian Government, “Ukraine underplays role of far right in conflict,” and their ‘reporter,’ or propagandist, David Stern, opened:

“Ever since Ukraine's February revolution, the Kremlin has characterised the new leaders in Kiev as a ‘fascist junta’ made up of neo-Nazis and anti-Semites, set on persecuting, if not eradicating, the Russian-speaking population. This is demonstrably false. Far-right parties failed to pass a 5% percent barrier to enter parliament.”

But actually, the accusation hasn’t been that the Ukrainian electorate are nazis and that the coup-imposed regime democratically represents the nazi public; it’s instead that Obama’s people imposed nazi leaders upon them — that Obama imposed a racist-fascist dictatorship, not that the public are nazi. Furthermore, this isn’t a charge regarding only the official nazi parties in Ukraine (of which there are two: Right Sector, and the former Social-Nationalist Party now called Svoboda meaning “Freedom,” name-changed at the urging of the CIA in 2004). It instead concerns the individual people and their past actions and policies, regardless of which Party they officially belong to. It’s things like this that they do.

The next deceptive device that Mr. Stern uses is to say, “the speaker of parliament, Volodymyr Groysman, is Jewish. He has the third most powerful position in the country after the president and prime minister.”

However, the charge by non-nazis isn’t about racist-fascism that wants to eliminate all ethic Jews; it’s instead about racist-fascism that wants to eliminate all ethnic Russians, which are the particular focus of Ukraine’s nazism. It’s also, though secondarily, anti-Semitic, anti-gay, and anti-immigrant; but it’s as much focused against ethnic Russians as Hitler’s nazis were against ethnic Jews. Different nazisms have different priorities regarding which groups they target first; in Ukraine, (especially at the urgings of the CIA and State Department) its ethnic Russians, and the standard chant by their crowds is “Russians on knives,” meaning kill all Russians. The don’t chant “Jews on knives,” and one of the reasons why they don’t is that starting no later than 2004, the CIA advised them strongly against public displays of their hatred for Jews. This was done specifically to prepare an anti-Russian Ukraine, not an anti-Jewish one,

Furthermore, one of the U.S. White House’s main nazis ruling both publicly and behind the scenes over Ukraine is Ihor Kolomoysky, a multibillionaire gangster who is also Ukraine’s biggest donor to Jewish causes; and he has hired for his gas-exploration company both Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, and John Kerry’s family friend, Devon Archer. Kolomoysky also was one of the main funders of the 2 May 2014 massacre of pro-ethnic Russians at the Trade Unions Building in Odessa. That’s the event which started Ukraine’s civil war, because it displayed the new regime’s exterminationist intent to residents in Ukraine’s ethnic-Russian southeast. Kolomoysky is the Ukrainian type of nazi — and the BBC (and U.S. White House) don’t want you to know that.

The next thing the propagandist does is to strut his pretended objectivity by accusing Ukraine’s President, Petro Poroshenko, for having nationally honored the volunteer Belarusian soldier Serhiy Korotkykh, who “was a member of the far-right Russian National Unity party and also a founding member of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Society (NSS) in Russia. [NOTE: this link was added here but is not in the BBC original.] According to Ukrainian academic Anton Shekhovtsov, the NSS's main goal ‘is to prepare for a race war.’” The pretense is vaguely implied here that Poroshenko somehow erred in honoring not a Ukrainian nazi, but a Russian one. Mr. Stern mentions that Korotkykh is in the Azov Battalion, but pays little heed to what they do, which is actually eagerly slaughter ethnic Russians and sport swastikas and Hitler-photos and tattoos while intoning slogans such as “Russians on knives!” In other words: Mr. Korotkykh fights for Obama’s side, and against Putin’s. He’s Obama’s nazi. Stern still hasn’t named one for Putin. In fact, Korotkykh was banned from Russia, and on 1 February 2010 his National Socialist Society was outlawed in Russia. Of course, the BBC’s propaganda-writer mentioned no such thing: Korotykh is supposed to be a Russian nazi, not a Ukrainian one — though he’s slaughtering ethnic Russians in Ukraine.

Mr. Stern’s propaganda-piece closes:

After the Unian news agency reported the presidential ceremony under the headline, ‘Poroshenko awarded Belarusian neo-Nazi with Ukrainian passport’, it was soon replaced with an article that air-brushed out the accusations of extremism. Unian's editors have declined to comment on the two pieces.

There are significant risks to this silence. Experts say the Azov Battalion, which has been widely reported on in the West, has damaged Ukraine's image and bolsters Russia's information campaign.

And although Ukraine is emphatically not run by fascists, far-right extremists seem to be making inroads by other means, as in the country's police department.

Ukraine's public is grossly under-informed about this. The question is, why doesn't anyone want to tell them?

The real question is: Why won’t he? But, of course, the answer to that is obvious.
