« Saudis Using Banned Chemical Weapons in Yemen | Iranian Foreign Minister Proposes Regional Peace and Cooperation » |
by Stephen Lendman
Yemen is in the eye of the storm. Washington planned and orchestrated ongoing war on an entire population.
Its using Saudi Arabia, other regional rogue states, and extremist takfiri mercenaries to do its killing and dying.
It's systematically destroying an entire nation to tighten its regional chokehold.
Will millions of Yemenis die, sustain disabling injuries and/or lose all future hope before things end?
No nation in world history caused more harm to more people over a longer duration than America.
None operate more ruthlessly. None more callously ignore human lives and welfare.
None wage more endless direct and proxy wars of aggression for unchallenged global dominance - no matter now many millions of lives it costs.
No matter how much appalling human suffering at home and abroad - so monied interests can grow richer and more powerful.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif surprisingly rejected Saudi Arabia's request for involvement in its Yemeni aggression.
After debating the issue, MPs said "Pakistan should maintain neutrality in the Yemen conflict so as to be able to play a proactive diplomatic role to end the crisis."
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said his "government and parliament resolved that we should not become a party to this conflict."
"Rather we should try to mediate some sort of peace between warring factions."
"And this is what we are trying to build up - a team or a group which includes Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and other Islamic countries that are not yet party to the conflict - to broker a deal between the warring factions, which can end this conflict."
Analyst Bruce Riedel said Nawaz Sharif "reportedly believes that if the Saudis enter into a ground war in Yemen - with or without Pakistani forces - it will become a quagmire."
"They have simply 'bitten off more than they can chew.' "
"The Egyptian experience in Yemen, in which Egypt had up to 20,000 casualties in the 1960s fighting the same Zaydi tribes that back the Houthis, figures prominently in Pakistani thinking, especially in the army."
Arab journalist Adnan Abu Zeed reports Saudi-led war on Yemen deepens Iraqi Sunni/Shia animosity.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned of broader sectarian war. Resolving things in Yemen by military means is impossible.
Diplomacy is the only solution. Iran's sensible peace proposal can work if implemented.
Washington is the main obstacle. Obama deplores peace. He wants endless regional wars and instability.
They serve US interests. Peace, stability and calm defeat it.
Analyst Mohammad Ali Shabini said "(w)hile it is unclear when the war in Yemen will end, what is clear is that Iranian diplomacy is proving to be an effective response to Saudi money and firepower."
"And with the goals of the Yemen war increasingly muddled, Saudi Arabia and its allies may soon find themselves bogged down in a quagmire."
State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf called Houthi legitimate resistance against US-orchestrated and directed premeditated Saudi terror-bombing "aggression."
Asked if Houthis were attacking Saudi Arabia, she ducked the question. She shamelessly and deliberately lied saying:
"(T)he Saudis are responding to what was blatant Houthi aggression…We're supporting the Saudis in the GCC-led (Gulf Cooperation Council) efforts here."
Washington is directing ongoing Yemeni terror-bombing - selecting targets, providing logistical help, refueling Saudi warplanes, supplying weapons and munitions.
Yemen is Obama's war. Saudi and partnered rogue states are doing his dirty work. Israel is involved.
How many Yemenis will perish before things end? How much pain and suffering is enough?
When will Washington, Western partners, Israel, and regional despotic regimes be held accountable for the highest of high crimes? When will justice finally be served?
When will the peace-loving world community demand US-led terror wars of aggression end? When will culpable American and allied officials be imprisoned for mass murder?
