The New York Times Endorses Israeli Mass Slaughtering Palestinians by Refusing to Condemn it

May 22nd, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

The Times supports Israel's worst crimes - wrongfully blaming them on victims. It outrageously calls Hamas a terrorist organization.

It's Palestine's legitimate government - democratically elected in January 2006. Claiming it wants Israel destroyed is false.

It long ago expressed willingness to sacrifice 78% of historic Palestine in return for remaining land within June 1967 borders - with East Jerusalem its exclusive capital.

It justifiably wants control over its borders, air space, offshore waters and resources. It wants diaspora Palestinians able to return.

It wants peace, stability, mutual cooperation with all nations and fundamental international law enforced.

The Times fails to hold Israel accountable for horrific high crimes against peace. It considers its naked aggression self-defense.

Institutionalized racism worse than apartheid South Africa's doesn't matter. Nor other forms of vicious police state persecution.

A previous article discussed Israel's new coalition government. It combines hate-mongering racists, neocon fascists and religious fundamentalist zealots. MK Ayelet Shaked is new justice minister. Palestinians are assured none with her in charge - more racist persecution than already.

During Israel's summer 2014 cold, calculated, premeditated aggression on Gaza, she openly called for genocidal slaughter.

She declared "the entire Palestinian people…the enemy, including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure."

Palestinian mothers give birth to "little snakes," she blustered. Genocidal war is morally right, she believes.

She wants Palestinians entirely exterminated. New York Times Jerusalem correspondent Jodi Rudoren interviewed her - downplaying her extremism, failing to condemn her racist hatred.

She quoted her saying "(t)hey say that I'm very calculated and not very sensitive…" She doesn't want "emotions…disturb(ing) her work."

She wants "Jewish identity" strengthened…"to have a democratic, Jewish, strong state."

Rudoren calls her "disciplined, a doer…pragmatic…a quick study…" She quotes TV host Oded Ben-Ami saying "(t)here is a very clear order in the things she is talking about."

She's a vicious, hate-mongering genocide supporter Rudoren dismissively says once danced ballet, was "active in the Scouts and excelled at math."

She's a former Golani Brigade instructor. Rudoren ignored its ruthless history. It was founded in 1948 to help ethnically cleanse Palestine during Israel's so-called War of Independence.

Ariel Sharon was one of its first commanders. In 1953, he established the infamous Unit 101. It included lawless cutthroats responsible for numerous massacres. Golani is a ruthless killing machine to this day.

Its sordid history includes mass murder, rape, torture and other high crimes. It specializes in terrorizes defenseless civilians. Its ranks include the most criminal elements in Israeli society.

An unidentified soldier once said they include "psychopaths, the poor, orphans, Israelis who live in small towns, immigrants, illiterates, people with mental problems, drug and alcohol abusers, and people with criminal records."

Shaked fit right in. In 2006, she began working for Netanyahu. She later supported Naftali Bennett, radicalized like herself.

Rudoren waited until deep into her article before discussing Shaked's call for mass murder - giving it short shrift instead of outright condemnation.

She was dismissive quoting Shaked saying "I'm doing a lot of mistakes, like every human being." Endorsing genocide can't be dismissed as a simple mistake.

Shaked said nothing about her plans in office. For sure it includes persecuting Palestinians viciously - denying them fundamental rights everyone deserves.

Rudoren didn't explain. She follows longstanding Times tradition, especially for Jerusalem correspondents - one-sidedly supporting Israel's worst crimes, blaming Palestinians for defending themselves against its ruthlessness.
