Obama Irresponsibly Bashes Putin

October 7th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Obama is responsible for more deaths, destruction and human misery than any of his predecessors - continuing Bush’s AfPak and Iraq wars, waging his own on Libya, Syria, Donbass, and Yemen, as well as partnering with Israeli aggression three times against defenseless Gazans.

He’s an unindicted war criminal multiples times over, a serial liar, a moral coward - an embarrassment to legitimate governance. Removing him from high office should be a national priority. On Friday, he held his first press conference since Putin declared REAL war on ISIS in Syria, polar opposite his PHONY humanitarian intervention - using ISIS and other takfiri terrorists as US foot soldiers, bombing Syrian targets, not their death squads or facilities.

No so-called “moderate” forces exist in Syria - for sure not enough to matter. Elements Obama calls the Syria’s opposition are US-recruited cold-blooded killers, imported from abroad, used as US death squads, murdering civilians, committing gruesome atrocities.

Vietnam's Operation Phoenix became the prototype for today's wars - featuring intimidation, kidnappings, torture, targeted assassinations, and mass murder with new twists like lopping off heads and similar atrocities.

The Salvador option was adopted in Central America - death squad diplomacy in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The aim: terrorizing people into submission, outlasting their resistance for as long as it takes, then maintaining horrific violence, chaos and instability, giving Washington a pretext for endless wars.

Its so-called “Free Syrian Army (FSA)” includes elements trained by CIA operatives and US special forces to commit cold-blooded murder and atrocities - on the phony pretext of humanitarian intervention.

ISIS and other takfiri terrorists comprise Washington’s main anti-Assad fighting force - supported by US air power, bombing Syrian targets exclusively.

Obama is a notorious liar. Nothing he says is credible. Truth is opposite his bluster. His Friday press conference featured a litany of lies, willful deception, irresponsibly bashing Putin’s important intervention in Syria - challenging US-sponsored death squads for the first time with state-of-the-art air power effectively used.

Obama calling US premeditated war on Syria “a conflict between (its) people and a brutal, ruthless dictator” is polar opposite clear, hard, indisputable facts.

He bashed Russia and Iran for keeping Assad in power - ignoring his overwhelming popular support, confirmed by polls and his resounding June 2014 open, free and fair re-election.

Obama lied claiming he’s “rejected by an overwhelming majority of the Syrian population.” His notion of a “political transition” is giving Washington sole authority to replace him with a pro-Western puppet - ignoring what the vast majority of Syrians want, violating international law in the process.

Russia, Syrians and the entire free world want ISIS defeated. Obama and neocons infesting his administration want it supported - used to fight independent governments Washington wants eliminated, making the world safe for Western monied interests, mainly US ones.

Obama calling Russia’s campaign counterproductive, strengthening ISIS, not weakening it, is code language - concealing his real concern.

For the first time, a formidable adversary is challenging Washington’s Middle East imperial agenda, an important step, flummoxing administration officials, scurrying to create a Plan B, in the meantime ludicrously claiming Russian air power is targeting legitimate government supporters - “good” terrorists, not bad ones.

On the one hand, Obama admitted the program to recruit, arm and train misnamed “moderate” forces hasn’t worked. On the other, he said he’ll continue supporting these elements to ensure an eventual transition to “democracy” - the one thing above all others Washington tolerates nowhere, neither at home or abroad.

US major media support US direct and proxy wars of aggression, notably The New York Times, a virtual administration/Pentagon house organ, featuring press release journalism, praising Obama’s high crimes instead of condemning them and calling for his impeachment and removal from office.

In response to his Friday press conference, it headlined “Obama Sees Russia Failing in Syria Effort.” A responsible headline would say Putin Declares War on US-Supported Terrorists.

Instead, Times regurgitated Obama’s litany of lies, effectively endorsing them - notably his disgraceful Russia bashing. It expressed frustration over Kerry’s inability to bully Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to abandon support for millions of suffering Syrians, including their exclusive right to choose who’ll lead them - for sure not Washington.

Nor did so-called Normandy Four leaders Merkel, Holland and Poroshenko convince Putin to stop bombing ISIS. Obama was adamant, saying he won’t cooperate with Russia’s campaign.

It directly challenges his imperial one - turning every nation America confronts to rubble, its people massacred, millions fleeing for their lives to safe havens, leaving behind endless violence and chaos.

The Times failed to challenge Obama’s Big Lie, calling Russia’s responsible intervention a “recipe for disaster…turbocharg(ing) ISIL recruitment and jihadist recruitment.” Adding: “Iran and Assad make up Mr. Putin’s coalition at the moment,” omitting Iraq and very likely China.

“The rest of the world makes up ours,” he said - solely including a rogue’s gallery of NATO partners, Israel and regional despots. The entire free world opposes his ruthless agenda, including thoughtful Americans, too few in number but vocal.

Obama and whoever succeeds him assures endless wars of aggression. Putin is the world’s best hope for peace and stability. He deserves universal support.

A Final Comment

On October 1, Assad political and media advisor Bouthaina Shaaban criticized Western double standards, supporting terrorists while claiming to oppose them. She thanked Vladimir Putin for intervening on behalf of the Syrian people.

In his UN General Assembly address, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem blasted US-led Western and regional countries waging terror war on his country, explaining Russia’s intervention came in response to Syria’s request for help - calling it effective because it supports Damascus’ efforts to combat terrorism, a scourge the entire world should commit to defeat.

  • Feminism was once a revolutionary force, a creed born out of struggle, resilience, and the dream of a world much different from what we had been given. It was born from the pain of millions of women working, poor, Black, Indigenous, women of color who refused to take the world as it was. And yet, today, feminism is an idea manipulated, diluted, commodified, and often controlled by those very forces that it initially came into being to dismantle from the military-industrial complex to corporate media giants; feminism today hardly resembles its initial mission of radical social transformation. This has happened because things are ingrained in how our media landscape rolls along. We hardly notice how forces remake feminist discourse into more palatable, consumer-friendly, and politically neutral forms. The corporations that run the media, the intelligence agencies that shape public opinion, and the political powers that remain in control have combined a grand symphony of influence that has redefined feminism, replacing its radical edges with a glittering but hollow vision of empowerment. It is time to reclaim the radical roots of feminism to inspire a new generation of activists to fight for real change.
