Libyans Have No Reason to Celebrate

February 19th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Five years ago today, February 17, US-led NATO began raping and destroying North Africa’s most developed country.

Gaddafi enjoyed widespread support for good reason, providing extraordinary social and other benefits for all Libyans - ones Americans can’t imagine.

The naked aggression Obama and Hillary Clinton as secretary of state orchestrated transformed Libya into a dystopian wasteland - devastated by endless violence, instability and chaos.

Its people suffer intolerably, exacerbated by Washington helping ISIS gain a foothold in Sirte, aiming to control Libya’s oil wealth. Its infestation risks greater devastation than already.

US-led Western propaganda about an anti-Gaddafi uprising was a spurious Big Lie - a pretext for long-planned US-led NATO naked aggression.

Obama is a notorious serial liar. In October 2011 with much of Libya in ruins, he outrageously “congratulated” its people, saying:

“After four decades of (nonexistent) brutal dictatorship and eight months of deadly conflict (he instigated, knowing in advance the destabilizing consequences), the Libyan people can now celebrate their freedom and the beginning of a new era of promise."

Around the same time, Obama’s partner in high crime, Britain’s David Cameron, duplicitously said his country “stand(s) with (Libyans) as (they) build (their) democracy” for a better future - imperial aggression prevented from arriving.

Libya is a failed state, a testimony to America’s viciousness. Its agenda transformed the country from peace and stability to devastation and intolerable human deprivation and misery.

RT International interviewed Gaddafi’s cousin Gaddaf Al-Dam, saying “(t)his is a day (February 17) of sorrow and grief…(O)nce a stable and secure country,” Libya lies in ruins, its people terrorized and traumatized.

The nation under Gaddafi for decades “was once one of the leading countries of the continent. (It’s now) feudalized and oppressed.”

“(P)ain, tears, casualties, material and moral losses” define today’s deplorable conditions…the result of (US-led) NATO’s” naked aggression…”invad(ing) (and) destroy(ing)” our country.

It no longer exists, endless violence, instability and chaos replacing responsible governance.

Libya remains one of Obama’s many high crimes - partnered with presidential aspirant Hillary Clinton.

Ruthlessness defines her agenda. If elected America’s new leader in November, imagine what she’ll do to the rest of the continent, Mediterranean region, Central Asia and perhaps Russia and China.

Will WW III follow? Humanity’s fate hangs in the balance.

  • The Pretender's Magic is their diversity in musical range. Mystifying the sultry blues of "Blue Sun" to the punk-infused anthems like "Brass in Pocket," the band slips into these heterogeneous grooves with greased skids. Chrissie's wide-ranging influences pair with The Pretenders, evolving while retaining core elements of its personality. The eclectic portfolio will consistently deliver a "new" live surprise. Sorry, but there is no raucous Lynyrd Skynyrd "Play Free Bird" here. Everybody has a favorite, many favorites. The diversity of the songs makes every new and old fan curious to learn more about one aspect or another of the band's expression.
